All that I am hearing from the incessant drone of the progressive mainstream media today is how the Tea Party and their representatives in Congress are responsible for bringing down the country. They’re terrorists. They have singlehandedly caused the stock market crash and the downgrading of our national credit rating. All because they wouldn’t let Obama and the Democrats tax those evil rich people and continue spending.

Heck, most of the “rich” people I know are progressives who are repeating the Democrat talking points. What’s wrong with taking a little more of my income, they ask? They don’t seem to mind. They have plenty of savings to rely on, so what’s the harm?

In our oddly rational conservative minds, we know the answer. It will ultimately hurt the economy. Jobs will not be created, they will be destroyed. The expected revenue will not materialize as the rich will use the available tax avoidance strategies. And, it will inevitably prevent members of the middle class from moving into the realm of the wealthy.

What conservatives and the Tea Party are missing is the fact that this is a strategic, long-term struggle. There are fifteen months until the next election. This next election is not just another run-of-the-mill political event. This election will determine the ultimate direction of our country for the next century. If you don’t understand that, you are one of the vast legions of the clueless, which unfortunately makes up the majority of the American electorate.

As a conservative and a Tea Party supporter, I believe we are destroying ourselves by doing what we believe is best for the nation we love. We are fighting liberal lemmings and preventing them from jumping off the cliff. Meanwhile, the lemmings are blaming us for standing in the way of progress. And the media is making this a convincing argument.

I know it goes against everything we believe, it damages the nation and violates our core values…but we must step aside and let the Democrat party commit suicide without our interference. At least for the next several months.

Willy Wonka was brilliantly portrayed by Gene Wilder in the movie “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. He protested in a mockingly soft voice, “Wait…Don’t …Stop…” as the selfish, undisciplined kids ran wild and attempted to destroy his factory, knowing that there was no reasoning with them or their ignorant parents, and that they would soon receive their just rewards. Similarly, conservatives need to voice their concerns with the liberal Democrat agenda, and then step out of the way.

Any consequences that occur over the next year can hopefully be reversed or at least mitigated with the appropriate people in office in 2013. They will never be reversed, however, if the “mainstream” media successfully convinces the majority of the electorate that Republicans and the Tea Party are at fault for their misery, rather than the party that has been in control of the majority of the government and the economy for the past six years.

I believe it is this contemporary progressive news media that is primarily responsible for the skewed political landscape we face. Most Americans don’t question its bias, and they listen to the recycled Democrat talking points it delivers as gospel truth. And since the liberal news editors who head the media outlets are given sole discretion over what news to release, the conservative side of the story is never heard by most of America.

So I am beseeching you conservatives, Republicans, and Tea Partiers…Fight your instincts. Do not resist the Democrat agenda. Don’t even compromise. Let them have their way for the next fifteen months. There is no possibility that they can reverse the course of the nation’s economy in that time with their destructive policies.

We will all suffer through the effects of these misguided policies, but at some point it will end. It will end when it becomes painfully clear to the majority of Americans that Democrats retain full responsibility for this incredible disaster they have imposed on all of us. If we do not do this, the misery will continually worsen well past our children’s lifetimes. America as we have known it will no longer exist.

It is incredibly ironic, but the only way to save our nation is to let it be destroyed, at least in the short term.

Captain America is a spectacular, patriotism-inspiring movie that you’re sure to love, unless you are an America-hating member of the evil army of Hydra. Or a progressive, take your pick.

Hollywood critics have given the movie a lukewarm reception, calling it “simplistic” (Hollywood Reporter), “cliché” (Filmcritic.com), and “subversive” (Boston Globe). It’s not surprising that the liberal Hollywood literati turn up their collective noses at it. The Boston Globe compares it negatively to the anti-war movies “Coming Home” and “Born on the Fourth of July”.

In Progresso-world, our country is despotic, Jane Fonda is America’s Sweetheart, and Oliver Stone is our national Bard.

In truth, they hate it because it is an allegory for American exceptionalism. Have you noticed that all of the iconic superheroes are Americans? They make us feel good because they represent all that is positive about our country. (OK, Thor is an undocumented worker from Asgard. There are a lot of parallels between Asgard and America, however. Especially when the evil Loki, masquerading as a purveyor of hope and change, takes the throne.)

America is the most exceptional nation in human history, based on its belief in the innate strength and wisdom of the individual, its thirst for freedom and justice, and its power to defend itself and others from forces of evil. America is the superhero of nations.

Captain America the movie expresses this concept purely and perfectly, without a hint of liberal snarkiness or self-loathing. It thrills and inspires, with no obligatory depravity, gratuitous sex, or stomach-churning violence. Marvel Studios has created a masterful and uniquely American classic.

Marvel has also atoned for its grotesque mischaracterization of the Tea Party as bigoted and evil in its infamous Captain America #602. Issued in early 2010, it coincided very closely with the Disney acquisition of Marvel. Perhaps Disney got the message from the negative outcry of its largest customer base, conservatives.

The Red Skull is the embodiment of evil, along with his minions in Media Matters, er, I mean Hydra. If you close your eyes during the climactic scene when Red says, in his Germanic accent, “I have seen the future…There are no flags!”, you can almost visualize a young George Soros in glorious 3-D. Brandishing his red, white, and blue shield, Cap speaks for America when he retorts, “Not in my future!”

I attended an event at the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, CA last week for Ann Coulter’s new book, "Demonic". This superb work exposes the inherent evil of the “mob” mentality within the progressive leftist movement.

She did a three hour live radio broadcast for KABC in the Library and personally signed each participant's book. Her superior intellect, rapier-like wit, and gracious charm were apparent that night.

As I got to the front of the line, I asked her to sign the book to Andrew Thomas aka “Dark Angel”, explaining that I have a blog called Dark Angel Politics. She gave me a tired look that said, “Hoo boy, everybody has a freakin’ blog these days”. So I quickly added that I also write for American Thinker. Her eyes immediately brightened up and she gave me a big smile. “Oh, yeah”, she said. “I’ve read some of your articles!”

China’s Counterfeit Economy: The Hidden Global Threat

In a desolate post-apocalyptic landscape, a Chinese peasant climbs over a rain-soaked mountain of electronic garbage. He is joined by hundreds of other peasants, scavenging through endless acres of discarded computers, junked telephones, and millions of scrapped consumer electronic devices. The peasant searches for any electronic components that look undamaged. Sifting through this vast graveyard of imported American e-waste, he stuffs printed circuit boards into a sack.

Communist China has graciously accepted our technological trash, made too expensive to dispose of in the US due to the onerous regulations imposed by the EPA (Economic Prevention Agency).

The peasant sits in a dusty clearing and starts a small fire. He holds a circuit board over the flame until the solder starts to melt. Quickly rapping the board against a rock, he watches as the precious harvest of integrated circuit (IC) components fall to the ground. The peasant gathers the ICs and takes them to a small ramshackle factory where he can sell them for a few pennies per dozen.

Within this makeshift workshop, the ICs are cleaned, and painted with a black epoxy to cover up the original markings. They are then silkscreened with false information including a consistent date code to make them appear to be from the same manufacturing lot. Of course, these ICs are severely weakened by the harsh environmental conditions and exposure to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) through unprotected handling, which is devastating to active electronic components.

The reprocessed ICs are subsequently sold to independent electronic component brokers, who ship them back to the US and sell them at discount prices to largely unsuspecting electronics manufacturers.

Although this is a common method of counterfeiting, many other types of counterfeits are produced as well, primarily in China. Some ICs are reverse-engineered and manufactured with a copied internal die. Some of these have been known to include hidden, and occasionally malicious, functions not designed into the genuine component.

Other components, such as resistors and capacitors, are also re-harvested or faked. Over the past ten years billions of counterfeit ICs, microprocessors, and other components have been sold to private industry throughout the world, including medical equipment manufacturers. They have also been sold to America’s aerospace industry and the US military.

This is a multi-billion dollar illegal enterprise that has resulted in upwards of $1.2 trillion in lost sales, which has been either ignored or sanctioned by the Communist Chinese government. It is estimated that all commercial electronic devices such as televisions and cellphones contain more than 8% counterfeit components on average.

The next time you are on a long transcontinental flight, think about the fact that the US Federal Aviation Authority has estimated that 2% of commercial jetliner electronics are counterfeit. Actually, if you have aerophobia, perhaps it’s best not to think about it.

Just as there is a constant race between the increasing sophistication of computer viruses and anti-virus software, new methods of counterfeit detection are met with technology innovations in counterfeit manufacturing, making fake electronics harder to detect. It is now becoming nearly impossible to identify many counterfeit ICs without tearing them apart (decapsulation). Techniques such as X-ray and scanning electron microscopy are increasingly popular. This naturally results in significantly increased costs for electronic products.

China is a giant mosquito. Instead of sucking blood and replacing it with a toxin, it sinks its proboscis into America, sucks the jobs and wealth from the country and replaces them with toxic goods. We have suffered through poisoned Chinese dog food, toxic children’s jewelry, and a sea of counterfeit drugs. Poisoned blood thinner heparin made in China killed 81 Americans before it was detected.

Are you having continual computer problems? Do you go through faulty cellphones like beer nuts? The next time an American F-15 fighter jet mysteriously goes down due to an unknown electronics malfunction, think about how this invisible Chinese invasion may be impacting all of our lives.

I'm going to do something completely different (which I love to do), and publish a comment from Stephen, a self-described member of the International Socialist Organization (ISO). He makes a cogent argument, some of which I even agree with. Capitalism is not a perfect economic system.

Hi. I'm a member of the ISO and found your blog. I'd like to make a few comments. ISO's position regarding scarcity/abundance: We believe that there is an abundance of wealth, more than enough than what is necessary to provide everyone on the planet with a decent standard of living, and the potential exists to further expand our productive capacity and output and to increase the efficiency of distribution in order to provide an even higher standard of living with more free time for all. However, capitalism's tendency towards crisis (as we see today) and reliance on exploitation creates a situation of instability and poverty for the majority of people on the planet, while a handful have more wealth than they could ever hope to consume in 1000 lifetimes. One of the bases for the possibility of socialism is abundance. Capitalism has made it possible for the first time in history to meet humanity's needs for food, clothing, and shelter. The problem is that under capitalism all decisions about what to produce and how to produce are subordinated to a simple consideration: how to maximize profits. So long as the economy is organized around this principle, the exploitation of workers, environmental devastation and international economic competition that spills over into military conflict will persist. Capitalism creates artificial scarcity for basic human necessities while pretending that such shortages are natural. The social relations of production under capitalism are a fetter on the productive forces. The capitalists own all the businesses and won't sell or make anything unless they can make a profit off of it. Meanwhile millions go homeless, hungry, and without health care. Despite there being great abundance. What drives our advocacy of a woman's right to choose, is not the supposed overpopulation of the planet, but a woman's right to do with her body whatever she chooses. Regarding the nature of government/the state: Marxists regard the state as the instrument of class rule. It is from class conflict that states/governments arise. Capitalism is a class society. There is a ruling class (capitalists) who have complete domination/a monopoly of economic and political power. And an exploited oppressed class, the working class, who does not own the means of production and have no political power. Whoever own the means of production (capitalists) therefore also commands political and economic power. And both political parties in this system serve the capitalists. Representatives from both parties are all millionaires take lobbyist bribes from big business. The government is the organized violence of a minority (the capitalists) over the majority (the working class). Its the guardian of inequality and protects the capitalists and their system. The police and the military are the bodyguards of the ruling class. The government exists to serve the capitalists. The real question isn't the size of government, its whose side the government is on. And by its actions and the actions of Democrats and Republicans both, we can see its on the side of capitalists. Trillions of dollars in bailouts to Wall St. bankers. Billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies to businesses. Tax breaks for the rich. The invasions of other countries for the benefit of energy companies and military contractors.

As Stephen states, "Capitalism has made it possible for the first time in history to meet humanity's needs for food, clothing, and shelter." This is no small accomplishment. The problem is that he and his fellow socialists want to destroy this imperfect system and replace it with a system that has NEVER worked any time in human history. And they want to do this on a global basis. Can you imagine a Stalin, Mao, Chavez, Pol Pot, or Jung Il as ruler of the entire planet? The opportunities for corruption and despotism are limitless in a world naively envisioned by people like Stephen. This is why the Stephens of the world are so dangerous. They yearn for the perfect world with fair outcomes for everyone. The outcome in reality is always the exact opposite of their intent. Socialism inevitably results in two separate classes: The wealthy all-powerful ruling class and the impoverished proletariat.

It was the "evil" capitalists who were producing our abundance of fruits and vegetables in the San Jacquin valley. It was our "benevolent" government that shut off their warter supply and destroyed 12% of our nation's food supply, as well as thousands of livelihoods. Who do you think has the ultimate power in this country?

Socialism is the killer of personal freedom, creativity, incentive, and personal wealth. It results in the death of the human soul. And for that reason it must be fought with our last free breath.

The Socialist Phobia of Scarcity

Well, my daughter’s Brooklyn wedding went off without a hitch on May 21st, and the world didn’t end. That was fortunate, as it would have spoiled a wonderful event.

My new son-in-law is an enthusiastic member of ISO, the International Socialist Organization. He is on the verge of a Master’s in Political Science, with the goal of becoming a college professor. With his philosophical bent, I think it’s a slam-dunk. Prestigious universities appear to value extreme radical leftism over all other qualifications for their faculties, so I expect he will be a very successful propagandist for young mushy minds.

Per my wife’s strict admonitions, I avoided all potentially incendiary topics of discussion in his presence before the wedding. The happy couple departed on their honeymoon while my wife and I dog-sat for them in their Brooklyn apartment.

After their return from a lavish tropical paradise getaway, I spent the evening chatting with my new son-in-law. We threw back a few Beefeater and tonics, and both of us felt our constraint melt away.

I calmly expressed my curiosity about his membership in the International Socialist Organization.

He explained that ISO believes in the philosophy of Trotsky and Lenin in the establishment of a workers’ paradise. Their mission is the destruction of capitalism and the imposition of a global socialist government. Capitalism is inherently evil, he stated, as it exploits and oppresses workers and steals their wealth.

I retorted that government is the primary source of oppression and exploitation, and the greatest danger exists when markets are in collusion with government. The result is the socialist economic perversion known as “crony capitalism”.

We began to get louder and louder, and I feared waking my wife and daughter. “Are YOU oppressed?” I asked. He surprised me with an emphatic “Yes! I have been oppressed all of my life.”

At this, I belly-laughed uncontrollably. It’s amazing, I opined, that a pitiable victim of wretched corporate oppression could return from a week of snorkeling and surf & turf at a posh resort in the Virgin Islands to their upscale apartment and watch their brand new 60 inch state-of-the-art 3D TV.

After the continued ratcheting up of rhetoric we agreed to a truce, both of us acknowledging that our stimulating debates were ultimately enjoyable and enlightening. Time for another B & T.

Later, I thought about my son-in-law’s concept of an all-powerful Wall Street sucking the cash out of workers’ pockets, leaving them destitute. I can understand the propensity of some to portray bankers, CEOs, and hedge fund managers as insatiably greedy boogeymen. But the idea that a small group of people amassing great wealth means that there is less left for the rest of us is patently absurd to a free market thinker.

Part of socialist angst may be due to class envy, but I believe most of it is based on the phobia of scarcity.

If you are a socialist, chances are you believe that there is only a limited amount of wealth in the world. People are impoverished only because rich capitalists are hoarding it.

You probably also believe that global natural resources are scarce, the world’s water supply is drying up, and irreplaceable species are becoming extinct.

This irrational fear of scarcity is what drives the socialist advocacy for abortion of the unborn and euthanasia of the aged and infirm.

As it turns out, the “population bomb” has thus far been a dud. Paul Ehrlich’s 1968 book of the same name predicted mass starvation and global social upheavals by the 1980s. Although this never happened, it has not deterred true believers.

Just as the followers of Harold Camping haven’t lost faith after his May 21 end of the world prediction fell flat (it’s now October 21, 2011), Ehrlich and his followers are ever faithful to the cause. In fact, in 1999 Ehrlich said the book was too optimistic about the future.

The irrational fear of vanishing species drives extraordinary, some would say self-destructive, behavior through regulatory action. Fear of extinction of the little Delta Smelt has caused government regulators to shut off the water supply to California’s San Joaquin valley, costing thousands of jobs and farmers’ lost livelihoods. Approximately 12% of America’s food production has been devastated as a result.

If you are a conservative and an advocate of the free market, it is likely you believe in abundance. You believe wealth is not limited, but rather can be created and multiplied. You don’t need to grab your piece of the pie from someone who has more than you. You know that everyone can have more as the pie grows bigger.

You believe that natural resources exist for the purpose of supporting and advancing mankind, not to be in competition with humans for the Earth.

Water is not disappearing from the planet. There is the same amount now as there was billions of years ago. It exists as a solid, a liquid, and a gas, and it recycles, refreshes and renews itself.

Species come and go. New ones are created as fast as old species die out. In fact, Darwin’s theory of natural selection demands that weaker species disappear in order to make the ecosystem stronger. Ultimately, many of the extraordinary measures taken in the cause of protecting the environment may in fact be endangering it.

The free market conservative has faith that as long as man is free, wealth and natural resources will be abundant and mankind will thrive. The socialist believes in the power of government to forcibly redistribute wealth and resources, control the population and the environment, and micromanage mankind into a heretofore unseen utopian society. Never mind that all previous attempts at this have been abject failures, frequently resulting in the mass murder and death by starvation of tens of millions of socialist citizens.

Oppressive government regulation kills the golden goose of abundance, and transforms the phobia of scarcity into a self-fulfilling prophesy. If the self-destructive irrationality of socialism is not a psychotic mental disorder, perhaps it is at least a serious neurosis.

Weather balloons had been measuring the atmosphere since the 1960s, many thousands of them every year. The climate models all predict that as the planet warms, a hot spot of moist air will develop over the tropics about 10 kilometres up, as the layer of moist air expands upwards into the cool dry air above. During the warming of the late 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, the weather balloons found no hot spot. None at all. Not even a small one. This evidence proves that the climate models are fundamentally flawed, that they greatly overestimate the temperature increases due to carbon dioxide.

This evidence first became clear around the mid-1990s.

At this point, official “climate science” stopped being a science. In science, empirical evidence always trumps theory, no matter how much you are in love with the theory. If theory and evidence disagree, real scientists scrap the theory. But official climate science ignored the crucial weather balloon evidence, and other subsequent evidence that backs it up, and instead clung to their carbon dioxide theory — that just happens to keep them in well-paying jobs with lavish research grants, and gives great political power to their government masters.

Could there be a more incompetent horde of goofballs than radical environmentalists and their enablers, the Democrats in Congress? Perhaps a convention of Stooges and Inspector Clouseaus could cause more unintended consequences, but it's doubtful.

After listening to the tantrums of the Warmist cult, Congress decides to subsidize biofuel production, particularly cassava, corn, sugar and palm oil crops grown for fuel. The result, as we are starting to realize, is a dramatic decrease in the world's food supply and sharply rising costs.

Unintended consequence: Accelerating world hunger, particularly in poor, third-world nations.

Now it is reported (by Warmists themselves) that biofuels produce black carbon soot in the atmosphere. This has been found to contribute to accelerate melting of the Himalayan glaciers and threatening the water supply for billions of third-world inhabitants.

Unintended consequence: Draught, devastation, and death (according to the Warmists' own propaganda).

Of course, the effects of biofuel soot are only a threat if you drink the Warmist cult Kool-aid. Since they are still pushing increases in the use of biofuels, it appears that they don't want to drink it themselves.

Warming cultists' behavior reminds me of the Simpson's episode where Homer realizes the hogie sandwich he's eating is killing him from food poisoning, but he keeps on eating it anyway, because that's what he does.

Destroying the world to save it. That's what Warmists do.

I have been reading that the world is going to end on May 21, 2011. This is extremely distressing to me, since I have a daughter who is getting married on this date and it’s too late to reschedule the wedding.

This apocalyptic prediction is being promoted by a group of religious cultists. Big surprise. They are being led by radical evangelist Harold Camping. He has been labeled a “false prophet”, mainly due to the fact that his predictions are not reliable. His previous pronouncement of the “end times” was September 6, 1994. As the thousands of cult leaders before him, his track record as a prognosticator stinks on ice. Nevertheless, his devoted followers will uncritically follow him into the abyss.

In a similar manner, the global warmist cult has its false prophets as well. George Soros-sponsored climatologist James Hansen leads with the prediction that we only have two more years before it will be too late to save the world from a fiery fate. I would be more inclined to take him seriously if he hadn’t previously made a number of erroneous apocalyptic pronouncements. In the mid-1980’s he confidently proclaimed that the Earth would be 2 to 4 degrees warmer by 2010 and New York City highways would be under water.

Leading global warming proponent and climate scientist Phil Jones (co-creator of the infamous "hockey stick" graph used by Al Gore in his infamous fiction film "An Inconvenient Truth") revealed that he destroyed the original raw data that supported the global warming hypothesis, making it impossible to review or verify his findings. Additionally, Jones and other climate science associates actively suppressed any scientific studies which disputed their claims, as evidenced in the "Climategate" e-mails.

Jones confessed last year that no warming of the Earth has actually occurred for the past fifteen years. This has been confirmed by NOAA satellite temperature data records.

The lead author of the also infamous UN IPCC report, Dr. John Christy recently admitted that global warming is a "non-falsifiable hypothesis". This means it cannot be classified as an actual scientific theory, but instead relegated to a quasi-religious dogma based upon a belief rather than verifiable facts.

Since the principle warmists have admitted the sham or have been revealed as “false prophets”, I view those who remain "true believers" to be truly pathetic individuals. They are cultists worshiping at the altar of Gaia, anxiously wringing their hands in fear and demanding tribute and sacrifice from the masses.

This Shakespearean comedy would be hysterical was it not for the tragic fact that billions of dollars have been squandered and continue to be stolen from our economy and our personal finances because of this blatant falsehood and these misguided individuals.

A US Senate report on EPA global warming policy released in September, 2010 indicated that the EPA estimated that an expenditure of $78 billion per year until 2100 (90 years) will result in lowering the Earth’s temperature by 0.006 to 0.0015 degrees centigrade. If the average of these predicted temperature reduction figures (0.00375 degrees) is used to calculate the cost of lowering the Earth’s temperature, the result is a mind-boggling $1,900 trillion for each degree of lowered temperature.

Since the entire US economy only consists of about $15 trillion this year, it will take every dollar bill on the planet for the next 90 years to make an insignificant dent in the phantom global warming threat. In other words, the whole idea that human beings can affect the temperature of the Earth is preposterous and the EPA has admitted as much.

Coincidentally, an official report from an economically-troubled Japan just revealed that the country spent $78 billion on global warming research that was determined to be “fruitless”. Imagine if they had used that money for a better purpose, such as improving the safety of their nuclear reactors.

For that matter, imagine what the US could do with the extra trillions of dollars we will “fruitlessly” flush down the toilet in the worship of Gaia if the warmist cult has its way. Could we find cures for cancer and heart disease? Could we permanently address worldwide hunger with advanced agricultural processes? Perhaps we could use it to eventually colonize Mars.

With that amount of capital, the possibilities for realistically improving our lives are limitless. Maybe we should just be more pragmatic and actually balance the budget first.

Maurice Strong, another George Soros-sponsored false prophet and primary architect of the UN global warming and global governance project Agenda 21, once asked “Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn't it our responsibility to bring that about?"

It’s becoming apparent as the facts are revealed that this is a cult with a suicide pact. And all of us are expected to drink the Kool-aid with them. We need to end this dangerous farce now.

While we struggled for over a week to get our people out of Libya on a rented ferry, they airlifted their citizens out on military aircraft in a matter of hours. Of course, we are saddled with a government run by academics with no actual business or foreign policy experience.

However, the Brits are ahead of us in creating silly ministries of unintended consequences. Parliament passed "Sexual Orientation Regulations", and now UK kids are being yanked away from foster parents who refuse to promote homosexuality to their children. An influential homosexual pressure group claims that the concept of protecting children under ten from sex is "old fashioned". Per a piece in the UK Telegraph, the British High Court has ruled that freedom of sexual orientation "should take precedence" over freedom of religion.

The real crime is not the insanity of a few leftist ideologues. It is the complicity of the sane vast majority.

AP Blames Decline of America on Republican Budget Cutting Threat

The tortured logic astounds me. What sort of distorted thinking conjures up Republican bogeymen responsible for every problem the country faces, even those where Republican responsibility is physically impossible?

On Tuesday, the Associated Press ran a piece titled, “Census: Near-record level of US counties dying”.

It focused on the dying areas of the country where the coal and steel industries once flourished. Then came this astounding statement to explain the decline:

Years in the making, the problem is spreading amid a prolonged job slump and a push by Republicans in Congress to downsize government and federal spending.

Wait a minute! The budget hasn’t been cut yet. How could an event that has not yet occurred be responsible for a current problem?

This is a prime example of what I would call liberal/progressive inter-dimensional logic. In this alternate reality, there is a time bending worm-hole that allows evil Republicans from the future to manipulate past events for which Democrats, despite their good intentions, could not rescue from disaster.

The concept that other factors could be in play that may have contributed to the decline of these communities is simply beyond the comprehension of these “unbiased” mainstream media journalists.

Could abusively powerful labor unions have been responsible for the destruction of the steel and coal industries?

Perhaps increasingly oppressive EPA regulations are contributing to their demise?

How about Obama’s promise to bankrupt the coal industry?

Maybe the job-killing policies and regulations imposed on businesses by Obama and a Democrat-controlled Congress had something to do with it?

Of course, none of these factors could be mentioned in an “unbiased” AP news piece. It doesn’t allow the argument to be “framed” so as to associate US economic decline with Republican policy (which has yet to be enacted).

Once the new Republicans in Congress actually begin to put their conservative principles into practice with actual legislation, watch out for the media circus clowns to really play their pipe-organs.

Just beware of their inter-dimensional worm-hole logic.

For the second time in two years, tens of thousands of Iranian citizens are protesting in the streets of Tehran against their repressive government. Although thousands were jailed, tortured, and killed by Iranian security forces in the first waves of protests in 2009, a strong populist revolution is still alive and struggling in Iran.

As opposed to the revolution in Egypt, an overthrow of the regime in Iran could be staggeringly beneficial to the United States. Egypt is almost certain to move away from friendship with the US and the treaty with Israel, and toward an oppressive Islamic rule as orchestrated by the Muslim Brotherhood. There are only potential disasters lurking in this regime change.

A change in governance in Iran, on the other hand, likely could result in a reduction in antagonism toward “The Great Satan” and “The Little Satan” (i.e., Iran’s characterization of the US and Israel). Even more importantly, it could significantly slow or completely halt their nuclear weapons program, which is the greatest single threat to global stability in human history.

The obvious question in regard to this revolutionary dichotomy is: Why is the Obama administration so vocally supportive of the populist revolt in Egypt, but so deadly silent about Iran? Why is Obama apparently silently supporting a regime that is our sworn mortal enemy over another that has been our steadfast friend and ally for over thirty years?

There is just not enough objective evidence to develop an educated conclusion as to the rationale for this foreign policy strategy. Since Obama himself will not tell us, we can only make blind assumptions based on his actions and behavior. And these appear erratic, inconsistent, and illogical for the leader of the free world.

It is almost as though his intentions are malevolent toward his own country, as crazy as that sounds.

We are assured by Michael Medved’s op ed headline in Monday’s Wall Street Journal that “Obama Isn’t Trying to ‘Weaken America’”. I feel much better now. Mr. Medved must be privy to some information not available to the rest of us, as the circumstantial evidence points toward the opposite conclusion.

The Progressive Disdain for the Rule of Law

When progressive Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer declared last Sunday on CNN that the three branches of government consist of the “House”, “Senate”, and “President”, was he really that confused? Or does he have a deep-rooted desire to eliminate the Judiciary from our government’s constitutional structure, and this came out of his mouth as a Freudian slip?

Senator Schumer is a Harvard Law School graduate and a member of Congress for the past 30 years. I find it difficult to believe he is that dim-witted to absentmindedly forget our federal court system is a branch of the federal government. That leaves the latter explanation, which I believe is a common attitude toward the courts whenever progressives are prevented from reaching their righteous objectives.

John Adams stated that we are “a nation of laws, not of men”. But among the progressive (i.e., socialist/communist) regimes throughout history, it has always been about a cult of personality rather than a firm set of principles. The vague concepts of central control of commerce and redistribution of wealth are common themes, but the implementation has always varied dependent upon the man in charge.

The flavors of progressivism under Lenin, Stalin, Mussolini, and Mao were based solely on autocratic rule, not immutable laws. Now we have the progressive Hugo Chavez, who rules by “decree” rather than follow the Venezuela constitution.

Progressives’ disdain for the rule of law stems from the tenet of Teddy Roosevelt’s observation that “no man is above the law”. The flexibility required for a despotic ruler or ruling class to completely execute their will and enslave a populace is thwarted when the power of the law supersedes any human leader. This is precisely why a rock-solid national constitution is imperative, and why it must be protected at all costs.

This precept has been tested many times in America’s history. Pro-slavery, anti-Native American Democrat Andrew Jackson (an progressive precursor) instituted the “Indian Removal Act”, forcing Native Americans out of the US and into the territories of the west.

When the Cherokee tribe resisted being removed from their lands in Georgia, they took their case to the Supreme Court. The Court ruled against President Jackson, who promptly refused to abide by the decision. Of the Chief Justice, he said, “John Marshall has made his decision; let him enforce it now if he can”.

The forced migration continued unabated, resulting in the deaths of 4,000 Cherokees by starvation and disease during the infamous “Trail of Tears”.

Progressive President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was not a friend of the Judicial branch. When the Supreme Court invalidated parts of his “New Deal” legislation, he introduced the “Judiciary Reorganization Bill” in retribution. The ultimately defeated Bill would have allowed him to select six new Justices, who he anticipated would permit him to push through his progressive agenda.

FDR told an aide that when “the Chief Justice read me the oath and came to the words ‘support the Constitution of the United States’ I felt like saying: ‘Yes, but it’s the Constitution as I understand it, flexible enough to meet any new problem of democracy—not the kind of Constitution your Court has raised up as a barrier to progress and democracy.’”

This sounds a lot like the words of our contemporary President, who, as an Illinois Senator characterized the Constitution as a “charter of negative liberties”, stating that “…the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society” and “I’m not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts. You know, the institution just isn’t structured that way.”

So what respect does Mr. Obama have for the constitutional rule of law? Let’s look at the latest evidence in just the past few days.

This week, Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC won a federal ruling against the Obama administration concerning the legality of its offshore drilling moratorium. Per the Wall Street Journal:

A federal judge Wednesday blasted the Obama administration for "determined disregard" of his order to lift a ban on offshore oil and gas drilling last year. […]

The drilling halt was first ordered last May after the April 20 Deepwater Horizon rig explosion, in which 11 workers died, and the resulting oil spill. Judge Feldman struck down the initial ban in June, and the Interior Department quickly ordered a second one.

In his ruling, Judge Feldman said Hornbeck was owed the money because the government's conduct amounted to contempt of court.

Earlier last week, federal judge Roger Vinson effectively struck down the ObamaCare health care law on the unconstitutionality of the individual mandate. The Obama administration is already sending out signals that it intends to ignore the decision and continue implementation. The issue is inevitably headed to the Supreme Court. If the Court rules ObamaCare unconstitutional, will Mr. Obama abide by this decision?

Bill Wilson, in an Investor’s Business Daily editorial, states:

Failure of the Obama administration to stop all activity related to the law that the federal court held to be unconstitutional would create a potential constitutional showdown between the two branches rarely seen in our nation's history. […]

Ultimately, the rule of law must prevail in this instance. Unless and until Judge Vinson's decision is overturned by a higher court, the federal government must follow it.

Failure to do so would unnecessarily throw our nation into its worse constitutional crisis since the Nixon impeachment. It is up to Obama whether he wants to subject both himself and our nation to that kind of turmoil. For the sake of our nation, let's hope he takes his oath of office seriously, averts a crisis, and follows the law of the land.

Based on Mr. Obama’s past history of words and actions, I believe it is unlikely that he will follow the law over his obsession to implement his progressive agenda. If this is the case, when will talk of a “constitutional crisis” turn into calls for impeachment?

As much as I yearn for a speedy end to the Obama administration, it is much more important that our Constitution is protected at all costs, regardless of all political outcomes, and against all enemies, foreign and domestic. This does not appear to be a progressive priority.

Is America's Fate Preordained?

I’m not one to believe that history can be extrapolated in a straight line to determine the future. There are many possible paths that can be taken that will result in extremely different outcomes. Unfortunately, if we fast-forward time from our present position, the potential outcomes are not promising. International politics are coming together in a direction that is very disturbing, if not horrific.

Our staunchest ally, Western Europe, is severely weakened, perhaps mortally wounded by economic chaos. With the support of a leftist political culture, the UK and countries of the EU are inevitably being converted into dhimmitude (i.e., subjugation to Islam).

Russia, wrestling with institutionalized government corruption, is beset by Islamist terror beyond our comprehension in the West. Surrounded by Islamic countries acting like a pack of ravenous jackals, they are bringing Russia to its knees by taking numerous small bites through terrorist attacks on innocent citizens. This will eventually lead to a collapse of the Russian government.

The Middle East, eternally unstable, is now the center of the global maelstrom. Thanks to Jimmy Carter and the fall of the Shah, Iran has become the focus of radical Islamist power. Pakistan, a nation filled with Islamic radicals, possesses nuclear weapons. Iran is only perhaps months away from attaining the same status. Once Egypt falls to Islamist rule (and that is almost a foregone conclusion), what will prevent the rest of the Middle East dominos from falling? And once they fall, will they meld into a radical Islamic nuclear superpower?

Israel is then absolutely and irrevocably done for. Surrounded by an unabated enemy with advanced Russian, Chinese, and US weaponry, nuclear weapons, and at least ten times the troop strength, what possible chance do they have to survive? Israelis, as Helen Thomas so eloquently put it, will have to go back “home” before they are slaughtered. If this happens, I hope most of them will immigrate to the US, where they could help tip the balance against the Islamization of our country.

What other allies can the US count on? China is an economic competitor and a political enemy. Their communist government has only one concern: The survival and proliferation of their culture over all others. We are indebted to them for the next fifty years at least, and much longer if our wise leaders decide they need to run up the debt for more porkulous “investments”. This has put us at a grave disadvantage to an enormously powerful adversary.

Latin America, from Mexico to Argentina, will eventually be under the rule of Hugo Chavez at the current rate of its decline into socialism. Hugo’s alliances with Iran and North Korea portend a new military stronghold and nuclear power that will be decidedly anti-American in nature.

How has this happened in such a short period of time? There is really only one plausible answer. The US has become a weak nation in the eyes of the rest of the world. It is now vulnerable to attack from a wide variety of enemies, and now is the time for them to strike.

Once you start pulling on the threads, you can see that none of this is occurring by accident or random event. It is becoming clearly evident that this is a well-orchestrated plan being carried out by American and international leftist groups in collusion with radical Islamic organizations and terrorist sympathizers. There is significant evidence of a long list of co-conspirators which include organizations actively supported by certain Democrat members of Congress and the President himself. How did we get to this point? We elected a body of progressives to run our government who do not have this country’s best interests at heart. At the center, our current president is “Post-American”, i.e., an anti-American globalist. I don’t think it’s necessary to reference the innumerable comments he has made in his speeches that support this contention. You can read about it in Pamela Geller’s book.

What is the likely outcome? If, as I said at the beginning of this piece, history is extrapolated in a straight line, the US will become an island unto itself within a short period of time. We will be mortally threatened by almost every other nation on Earth. We are currently preventing ourselves from using our own domestic oil and other fossil fuel energy resources to sustain ourselves. Once economic chaos inevitably ensues, our internal socialist/progressive enemies will stir unrest and stage riots similar to those in Egypt until the US government collapses and falls into their hands.

How can this straight-line extrapolation into the future be diverted? Just starting to talk about it and exposing this corrupt plot to the American public can facilitate disruption of the path we are on. However, I can see three possible major factors involved in this dynamic. At least one or more of these must occur (or some combination with lesser factors) to change our current direction.

One: This series of events is delayed until a new, highly competent executive administration is placed into office in 2012, an administration that will reverse the current global view of the US as weak and vulnerable. There is absolutely no chance of this happening if Obama is re-elected. Of the potential Republican candidates on the horizon, I do not see many that could accomplish this. John Bolton is a possible exception as a dark horse candidate who intimately understands global politics.

Two: An unforeseen cataclysm takes place that restructures the forces of power and disrupts socialist/Islamic plans for global control. This could take the form of a nuclear attack on or by Israel. It could be a major conflict or war involving the US. Perhaps even a natural disaster of global proportions could occur, e.g., massive volcanic activity, a pandemic, or a meteor strike, although these are obviously not as likely as a man-made cataclysm.

Three: A large portion of the American people becomes aware of these approaching dangers in time for them to mobilize and dramatically influence the US government to prevent this global disaster by changing our current course. The Tea Party may be the only hope to accomplish this scenario, but they would need to organize rapidly and present a very forceful political front once again.

Extremely turbulent times are ahead. Unless something bends history from its current course very soon, the American Experiment may be a minor footnote in the book of time.

A Cloudy Future

I’ve always considered my wife a little paranoid about her privacy. Although she has never done anything illegal or immoral, she sometimes acts as though the world is out to get her. To avoid leaving an electronic trail, she pays for everything in cash as much as possible and has, until recently, refrained from conducting any online financial transactions.

I, on the other hand, have been somewhat cavalier about protecting my privacy, believing there is safety in numbers. After all, out of some three hundred million folks in this country, what are the odds that I would be a target for something nefarious? Cyberspace is just too vast and ubiquitous. At least that’s how I have perceived it up until now.

Then I read Friday’s Wall Street Journal. Inside was a full five page “Special Advertising Section” sponsored by a consortium of companies, including Microsoft. Two articles were featured, “15 Ways the Cloud Will Change Our Lives” and “Creativity in the Cloud”. I am always skeptical of any advertising that tries to tell me how wonderful life will be once I use their product, but I become very concerned when they tell me that I will have no choice in the matter. “The Cloud” is such a product that activates my spider-sense.

Don’t misunderstand my concerns. I’m not a technophobe. Technological advancements are greatly improving our lives every day. But can we trust the people who control the technology? Any technological breakthrough that is intended for the betterment of mankind can also be subverted for evil purposes. I have been distrustful of Bill Gates ever since he proclaimed his desire to de-populate the world using vaccines.

Now Microsoft and other companies such as EMC and CA Technologies are touting “The Cloud” as a breakthrough that will change our lives forever (whether we like it or not). Desktop computers are obsolete. Internal data storage will no longer be needed, as all of your personal information will be accessed through a sea of hundreds of thousands of remote servers using a handheld i-pad or i-phone. Data can be instantly assembled from multiple sources to develop a research project or a profile of you as an individual. How could anything go wrong?

The Journal ad quotes John Hagel, co-chairman of the Deloitte Center for the Edge, Deloitte’s Silicon Valley-based research center:

The need for guidance will spawn new companies that leverage the insights from the many footprints we leave online. Now, for example, shopping sites might offer suggestions of movies or videos based on previous purchases. The next level will be companies that make those suggestions based on not just your activity on one specific site, but across a range of places – what you watch on web TV, on YouTube, and other sites…

If a company can capture all my online activity, as it occurs in real time, it can have an integrated view of me as an individual and suggest things I didn’t even know I wanted to look at.

Although the ad focuses on many potential improvements to our lifestyles and well-being, there are a few disturbing ideas as well. One of the articles mentions an experimental Cloud technology showcased at a recent trade show which promoted the concept of installing cameras in your bathroom mirror, “alerting doctors” of potential illnesses.

Here’s a crazy thought: What if our beneficent government wanted to gain control of “The Cloud” to more easily identify potential enemies of the state? How farfetched is it to believe that the federal government won’t eventually command this technology? FCC chairman Julius Genachowski has already exerted regulatory influence over the internet with the implementation of “net neutrality” regulations. This is just the first step, the “camel’s nose under the tent”, toward the goal of complete internet control.

Orwell knew the propensity for governments to desire the enslavement of their people, but he couldn’t possibly imagine the technology that might so easily achieve it. Will the concept of “government transparency” be twisted into a scenario in which a ruling class lives in the “clouds” over a completely transparent citizenry?

Or am I just catching my wife’s paranoia?

The US’s “Little Shop of Horrors” Turns 40

Back on December 2, 1970, who could have predicted that the sprouting of a flower nurtured with good intentions would result in a blood-sucking behemoth with a ravenous appetite for domination and control of the human race? I’m not talking about Audrey II, the man-eating plant from Roger Corman’s “Little Shop of Horrors”. I’m referring to the spawn of Rachel Carson and her discredited 1962 best-seller Silent Spring, The US Environmental Protection Agency.

Two years following its birth, one of its vaunted accomplishments was the banning of the pesticide DDT. This Progressive milestone in unintended consequences resulted in the unnecessary worldwide deaths of millions to malaria, and continues to curse us in this country with the recent resurgence of bed bug infestations.

Under the care and feeding of “Seymour” Obama, the EPA is about to reach its monstrous potential.

Once it became clear that carbon cap-and-trade legislation would be untenable in the new Republican controlled House, “Plan B” was put into action. This strategy is the third leg in Obama’s undermining of the US Constitution by Executive fiat. Now that Financial Reform and the Food Safety Modernization Act will significantly contribute toward government control of our finances and food supply, new Clean Air Act regulations will control us through the air we breathe. In a Forbes article by Larry Bell, the historical context behind this government power grab through regulation is revealed.

Effective July 1, 2011, any new source of greenhouse gas emissions that exceeds 100,000 tons of CO2 per year or plant modification adding 75,000 tons annually, will be subject to permit approval based upon undefined case-by-case "best available control technology" assessments.

[…] Such rapid expansion of EPA powers and growth is emblematic of Big Government bureaucracy run amok with the help of some influential friends. In the EPA's case, there was no better friend than Enron.

Seeing an opportunity to capitalize on the “acid rain” hysteria of the 90’s, Enron co-opted climate scientists and legislators to organize the nation’s first cap-and-trade Ponzi scheme, buying and selling sulfur dioxide emission credits. Based on the success of this scam, the wizards at Enron lusted over how much they could steal through cap-and-trade if carbon dioxide was declared a pollutant.

A massive campaign of lobbying and campaign donations ensued, with CEO Kenneth Lay working with President Clinton and Vice President Gore on a strategy to ratify the Kyoto climate agreement. As fate would have it, the US Senate unanimously voted to refuse to ratify the treaty in one of the few contemporary acts that reflected the will of the American people. Enron was finished, and fell under the weight of its own corruption. The supreme irony here is that Enron, the poster child for the excesses of capitalism, was actually a tool of the political left.

Under the aphorism that bad ideas never die, they just become progressive agenda items, the EPA won a 5-4 Supreme Court ruling that “greenhouse gasses” including carbon dioxide are pollutants. The five assenting justices, being strict arbiters of the law, did not allow actual science or common sense to play a role in the decision. This opened the door for the EPA to regulate the production of carbon dioxide in any manner they so choose. The inconceivable amount of money and power to be acquired in controlling the Earth’s atmosphere is an irresistible temptation to our easily corruptible ruling class, and they have won.

And so after 40 years, the Audrey II of the Obama administration grows in power and regulatory appetite, set to strangle the US Constitution and swallow American freedoms whole.

The Socialist-Capitalist Science Experiment

It is apparent that a full 30% of the citizens of the US are completely divorced from political reality. Much of this is due to the control progressives have had over the educational system, where American history has been revised or suppressed. Major chunks of the early twentieth century have been buried to those under fifty years old, just as Nikita Khrushchev said he would bury us with his communism.

My wife and I just returned from spending a week in our daughter’s Brooklyn apartment, dog-sitting for her and her avowed socialist boyfriend/fiancée while they vacationed in Orlando. Being from relatively-rural Pennsylvania (where guns and Bibles are our security blankets), our daughter warned us not to wear anything that would identify us as conservatives, such as an American flag tee shirt. This, she said, would be dangerous and could provoke violence on the streets of her Brooklyn neighborhood.

I find it interesting that we have come to a point where a display of patriotism could inflame and incite violence from New York City leftists in the same vein as walking through a Muslim neighborhood wearing a caricature of Mohammed on a tee shirt would. However, on the same NYC streets, symbols of Che Guevara, anarchy, and communism are treated with respect. One angry-looking individual wore a tee shirt stating “I’m an Atheist – Deal with it!” I didn’t notice any gangs of crazed Christians attacking him.

As I said, we spent the week in their apartment, which was decorated as a panoply of modern American socialist dogma. Posters declaring “Turn Off Fox News” and “Fight the Rise of the Right” were proudly displayed. Coffee table literature included American Socialist magazines and Noam Chomsky’s Hopes and Prospects, a book decrying the existence of American exceptionalism “…which continues even under Obama!”.

Back to my central premise: We have drifted way off course in this country. Socialism is becoming revered and capitalism reviled by many Americans, primarily due to the pervasiveness of leftist propaganda and the lack of historical perspective. How do we reverse this course and “take our country back”?

Despite the absence of accurate twentieth century historical education, there are some ways the stark differences between the two economic philosophies can be presented…at least to those who have not been completely blinded to fact-based evidence. A perfect example of this is to present the evolution of the once-unified country of Korea as if it were a science experiment.

Imagine taking a country comprised of a homogenous race of people who share the same culture and history, and dividing it in half. Both halves are equal in terms of size, natural resources, and populations. On one half, the capitalist experiment is conducted. Free markets are created and a democratic form of government is put in place. It is called “The Republic”. On the other half, socialism is the economic system of choice and a communist government is installed. It is known as “The Democratic People’s Republic”. (I believe this name was developed by the same folks who titled ObamaCare “The Patient Protection and Affordability Act”)

We take these two giant Petri dishes and allow them to incubate for sixty-five years. Upon observation, what do we find? As Don Oberdofer states in his book, The Two Koreas:

South of the dividing line, the Republic of Korea has developed since the 1970s into an economic powerhouse. By 1977 it was the world’s eleventh largest economy and one of the foremost producers of ships, automobiles, electronics, steel, and a host of other goods, with a per capita income of more than $10,000 per year.

[…] North of the dividing line, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, which developed its own unique brand of communist Confucianism, remains militarily powerful but has lost the race in every other way… Following the death of its founding leader in 1994, North Korea suffered a sharp economic decline, which was a central factor in a famine in outlying areas that led to massive loss of life.

Today, “The Republic” remains a vibrant economic force, one of the elite members of the G20 currently hosting the annual summit of world leaders. In 2010, its GDP growth will exceed that of the United States. Meanwhile, the citizens of “The Democratic People’s Republic” wallow in abject poverty and starvation while their ruling class lives in supreme luxury. As can be clearly observed, socialism has “spread the wealth” among the populace after Dear Leader and the others in power have taken their share.

In fact, the only thing that has kept most of the people in this socialist paradise alive is an illegal capitalistic black market, trading in food and goods that the government is unable or unwilling to provide. “If you don’t trade, you die”, one defector commented. Last November, a drastic devaluation of North Korea’s currency was enacted to destroy this underground economy, resulting in government confiscation of the meager savings citizens had managed to set aside.

The question to pose is: How do you explain the incomprehensible disparities in the quality of life between the two Koreas, other than the economic systems they chose and the resultant consequences of those systems?

For those American socialists who have reading comprehension difficulties, I present a visual learning tool. Below is a picture taken of the two Koreas at night. Show this to any of the confused 30%, and ask them under which system they would like to live.

The rulers of North Korea, similar in attitude to American socialists, are violent, angry, and want to destroy capitalist societies. This is because the existence of capitalism itself is a constant reminder that socialism has always been and always will be a fatally flawed failure. Continuing to educate others to this truth is our best weapon in this epic struggle.

This may be the single most significant medical breakthrough in human history. I want to be the first to congratulate the scientists from Harvard and University of San Diego (rife with appropriate human subjects) who have isolated the “liberal” dopamine receptor gene called DRD4, and nominate them for the Nobel Prize in Medicine and perhaps even the Nobel Peace Prize, as well.

The gene apparently provides a predisposition to this widespread mental disorder, which affects approximately every two in a typical family of five (at least in my case). According to the scientists, this predisposition is triggered into full-blown liberalism by excessive social interaction during adolescence…for example as occurred with the baby-boomers during the era of “Free Love”.

The good news is that a cure is possible! Perhaps a genetic modifier could be introduced as a nasal spray ingested through the lungs, as has been proposed to reverse other genetically-induced diseases such as cystic fibrosis and psychotic narcissism. Can you think of any appropriate subjects for the clinical trials?

Can you foresee a future where people entering polling places are hit in the face with a dose of “sanity spray” prior to voting? I’m certain that a vaccine can soon be developed to insure that our children lead healthy and happy lives, free from illogic, confusion, anger, hypocrisy, and projection.

Imagine a world without “victimized” classes, without special interest organizations having the words “green” or “justice” in their titles, with no demands for entitlements and manufactured “rights”, and where no one thinks we can borrow our way out of debt.

Unfortunately, I can also imagine a massive revolt against any attempt to chemically-alter liberal thought (although chemicals probably contributed to it in the first place). Like brain-dead zombies resisting a psychic therapy that could turn them human again, liberals will probably balk at volunteering to be cured.

Oh, well…I can dream.

How Will Obama Punish His Enemies and Reward His Friends?

Who is the real Barack Hussein Obama? Harvard-educated professor of law? Radical community organizer? Union flack? Or Chicago Way thug politician?

Now that it seems apparent that President Obama’s big government takeover policies will be soundly rebuked by the electorate next Tuesday, his anger against those who oppose him seems to be rising to the surface again and his true nature is showing through.

This past Monday, speaking on Univision, he warned that attaining his goals will be harder “[I]f Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us’.”

What kind of Harvard professor talks like that? It appears that a majority of the electorate are about to be added to Barry’s enemy list. And how will he “punish” us? Put a “boot” on our “throats”? Find out “whose a—to kick”? On the same day, speaking in Rhode Island, he told Republicans “they can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in the back”.

With Obama now in complete command of 50% of the US economy thanks to ObamaCare and Financial Reform (with pending Cap & Trade legislation, EPA regulations, FDA food regulation, and FCC internet regulation to grab most of the remaining economy), finding creative ways to punish enemies and reward friends should be a snap.

Being the President of the United States comes with some unique responsibilities. The President must put aside petty politics and represent all of the American people, whether they be perceived “enemies” or “friends”. Apparently, Mr. Obama has not transcended the thuggish ways of his Chicago political past.

Obama is now granting dispensations from his onerous new ObamaCare rules to favored companies and labor unions. Is it farfetched to believe he will begin to reward his friends and punish his enemies (i.e., you and me) wielding ObamaCare as a weapon? ObamaCare will deny health treatment to Republicans…Farfetched, right?

A recent mailing from RNC Chairman Michael Steele includes a typical “push poll” and an appeal for donations. This particular fundraising message includes the suggestion that Democrats could use the release of personal information mandated by the Obama healthcare bill to determine your political persuasion and as a result “GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment”.
Of course, this is patently absurd. It could never happen in a free civil society like ours. All right, there is some evidence that ObamaCare may ration health services to seniors due to the fact that their lives are of lesser value to society than a younger person’s. But a person’s political beliefs certainly don’t impact his value to society, do they?
Well, OK, the DNC may consider opponents to their policies “right wing domestic terrorists”. But I’m sure Democrats wouldn’t devalue the lives of conservative opponents just because they consider them “terrorists”, would they? Don’t be silly.
But the crux of my argument is that it would be ethically and morally repugnant and totally unimaginable for one political party (especially one as ethically and morally pure as the Democrat party) to punish private citizens based on their political party affiliation. Oh, except for that little episode of Obama taking over GM and Chrysler, and then targeting the dealerships of those owned by Republican contributors for closure.
Well, there you go. This irresponsible assertion by the RNC has absolutely no evidence to support it. This is unabashed Republican fear-mongering and is totally farfetched. Of course, if you asked me what was farfetched six months ago…

Was the “Restoring Honor” Rally the Biggest Ever in DC?

Glenn Beck remarked during the 8-28 “Restoring Honor” rally that he believed this was the largest attended private event in Washington DC history.

My wife and I attended both the 9-12 March on Washington in 2009 and this past weekend’s 8-28 rally. From my subjective analysis, I believe it can be shown that the attendance at the Glenn Beck rally was roughly equivalent to the 9-12 march, which was estimated to be approximately 1.5 million people. It is possible that the 8-28 rally had the potential to be even bigger.

All DC hotels were sold out during both of these events. On neither of these dates were there any other large events taking place which would have significantly competed for hotel space (other than Al Sharpton’s gathering of 3,000 people on 8-28, who I am assuming were mostly locals).

Parking in DC is very limited, and many of the roads in the city were closed off for these events. Therefore, car and bus access was maxed out. Most of the attendees were transported by car or bus to Metro stations outside of the city. At these stations, access is limited to the maximum possible occupancy of each railcar. Thousands of people stood for hours in interminably long lines trying to buy Metro tickets.

We drove to the Vienna, VA station at the very end of the Metro Orange line. Arriving early in the morning, we got into line outside the station while it was still only a few hundred feet long. Behind us, it grew further than the eye could see. Four lines of this size fed into the station entrances. Underneath the walkway, Interstate 66 was a virtual parking lot stretching over the horizon, a sea of vehicles attempting to get to the overflowing Metro parking lot.

After about two hours, we made it to the ticket machines. There were five of them for the whole station. The one I attempted to use had run out of regular tickets, so I had to purchase day-passes.

Once finally inside the Metrorail, people filled every square inch of space in each car. With human flesh packed so tightly together, it was a good thing we were all there to “restore honor”.

Unfortunately for all of the people who had waited in line for hours at the subsequent stations, there was no room in any of the passing trains. I observed one brief struggle break out during the trip. As the doors opened at one of the stops, a man was violently pushed into our car by the crowd of frustrated commuters behind him trying to get in. Since there was nowhere to go, he shouted in pain as he was crushed between two solid walls of humanity.

The point of this is that DC is only capable of accommodating a finite number of people within any single day, and that maximum was attained on 8-28. My estimate is that at least one-third of the people waiting in the Metro station lines and stranded on the highways could not have made it there by 1:30 pm when the event ended. If the maximum number of attendees possible at a DC rally is about 1.5 million, then there were that many at the Beck rally and perhaps another half million who tried to attend but failed. My estimate might be flawed, but there is no way to accurately determine how many people may have attended the event if they had better access to the city.

As you can see, much of the Mall was standing room only.

Should Republicans Surrender the War at Ground Zero?

Time Magazine’s Mark Halperin has just released an article that literally begs the Republican Party not to take advantage of the politically suicidal remarks made by President Obama in support of the “Ground Zero” mega-mosque. Mr. Halperin’s comments beg for a response. He writes:

Republicans have a strong chance to win the midterm elections without picking a fight over President Obama's measured words. And a national political fight conducted on the terms we have seen in the past few days will lead to a chain reaction at home and abroad that will have one winner — the very extreme and violent jihadists we all can claim as our true enemy.

In other words, don’t take advantage of Obama’s stupid gaffe as it will inflame tensions, divide the nation, and jihadists will be even madder at us than they are now.

The disingenuousness of this is galling. As the author pleads for Republicans not to divide the country for political gain, Democrats are actively inducing racial divisions and class warfare throughout the country to get themselves re-elected. The Iraq War itself became a political football in Democrat hands, exploited to grab political power at the risk of the lives of American troops in combat. “The ends justify the means”, is an integral part of the Democrat leftist political playbook. Appealing to Republicans’ civility to “do the right thing” as Mr. Halperin concludes in his piece, is blatant hypocrisy.

And the insinuation that preventing the building of the Ground Zero mosque is wrong because it will anger violent jihadists is ludicrous. I somehow get the feeling that Mr. Halperin was a very small, skinny kid, having at one time donated his daily lunch money to the local bully. In his mind, he did this so that the bully would not be upset with him. Unfortunately, the bully saw this as a sign of weakness, took his lunch money every day after that and beat him up anyway.

Democrats need to learn this lesson about radical Islam and other bullies: Appeasement begets extortion.

Republicans need to understand that the MSM is their sworn enemy and cannot be appeased by “civil” behavior. They need to learn to be as ruthless as Democrats on the political field of battle. As Mr. “Chicago Way” Obama said to his own party, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”

So I searched the photo archives of the Weather Underground and Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) for any evidence of anti-social behavior among the political class in their earlier days. After all, these are serious accusations. What I found (see picture below) was absolutely shocking. Shocking, I tell you!

I Went Through the Congress With a Bill With No Name

WashingtonWatch reports that H.R. 1586 was so slapdashedly passed through the Senate before our dedicated representatives sped off to their vacations that they inadvertently left the name of the bill blank. Its official name is therefore “The_______Act of _______”. It is a spending bill that merely adds another $126.44 burden to every family in America.

The House of Representatives and President Obama are expected to quickly approve it without amendment. They are too busy to worry about such matters as how their actions affect the economy or the survival of the American middle class. Who has time to actually read a bill these days? And who cares, since legislation really has no meaning anymore? Everything passed by Congress now goes through the filter of Obama’s all-powerful executive administration and legion of czars to interpret the actual implementation. So it doesn’t have a name? It’s mind over matter: Congress doesn’t mind and you don’t matter.

I have a suggestion, however. How about “The [Irresponsible] Act of [An Out-Of-Control Government]”.

The “Benign Dictatorship” of Barack Obama

Recently, I received a rare visit from my brother-in-law. He is a smart guy, having graduated valedictorian of his high school class and currently running a successful business of his own. Unfortunately, his politics run 180 degrees counter to mine, as he grew up in the socialist environment of his Swedish homeland.

As we talked about the weather and other neutral subjects, he stared into my library. Among my compilation of Holy Bibles and Vince Flynn novels, he noticed my Glenn Beck book collection. “Do you believe in that stuff?” he asked, giving me a repulsed look as though they espoused the philosophy of satanic pedophilia. “I do”, I replied resolutely. Upon which he began a long diatribe on his vehement hatred of George Bush and the fascist dictatorship he created.

President Obama, he declared, although he has his flaws, “means well.” I won’t go into my rebuttal of that statement, but his final thought on the matter was: “Of course, the perfect form of government is the benign dictatorship”.

I have been thinking about that perception for a while now. Not because I believe it’s true, but that it may help explain the motivations of the progressive leftists in this country. I am continually attempting to truly understand the conceptual thinking of progressives, as it is so foreign to my analytical personality. Like Star Trek’s Mr. Spock, I am driven by phenomenological facts and data. Progressives apparently can function with neither.

Over a year ago, I wrote about my theory that liberals “crave a master” who will instill stern discipline and mete out harsh punishments to a deserved citizenry. This was based on my belief that progressives have a predilection for “moral masochism”. While I still maintain the validity of this argument, I am beginning to understand that much of their apparently illogical craving for domination is actually agenda-driven.

To the committed progressive, the leftist priority agenda issues are so pure and righteous that the frustration of not having them immediately implemented is unbearable. For instance, “climate change” legislation is a progressive neo-religious life-or-death cause for which many would gladly give up all of their (and our) democratic freedoms and liberties to achieve.

The US Constitution is a preventer rather than an enabler of the progressive agenda, and therefore must be removed as an obstacle. Obama once called it a “charter of negative liberties”. And so the dream of a benevolent dictator who will powerfully push aside all opposition and enact just and virtuous laws throughout the land dwells in the psyche of the left.

Unfortunately, a “benign” dictatorship is an impossibility outside of a leftist’s skull, in what we call “reality”. Even the most perfect benign dictator in the universe, the God of the Book of Genesis, couldn’t make it work with Adam and Eve. Human beings will always succumb to the corrupt temptations of power.

But that doesn’t stop progressives from trying. There is no doubt that Obama has successfully amassed power to himself unlike any American president before him, in just his first eighteen months. To be fair, George Bush gave him a running start.

The fact that our normal American safeguards have thus far failed to contain this unprecedented expansion of executive power is itself deeply troubling. This failure is due in part to the fact that the executive branch has followed a determined strategy of obfuscating, delaying, withholding information, appearing to yield but then refusing to do so, and dissembling in order to frustrate the efforts of the legislative and judicial branches to restore a healthy constitutional balance.

So spoke Al Gore in a 2006 speech on the Bush administration’s abuse of the Constitution. He railed on about Bush’s power grabs, including the use of warrantless wiretaps and surveillance, efforts to control the internet, and imprisonment of citizens suspected of terrorism without an arrest warrant or due process.

Following in Bush’s footsteps but with a longer gait, Obama has maintained and expanded the wiretapping and surveillance of citizens’ communications, recently including warrantless seizure of private e-mails. He has been granted the power to shut down the internet at any time he deems necessary, and is working diligently to further control all communications through the FCC and his Marxist communications diversity czar, Mark Lloyd.

Most distressingly, Obama has reserved for himself the right to declare any US citizen a “terrorist”, and target them for assassination without a trial or due process. Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano has identified veterans, states-rights advocates, people who oppose abortion or illegal immigration, and members of right-wing groups as potential domestic terrorists. To paraphrase Newsweek magazine, “We are all terrorists now”.

The pieces of the “benign dictatorship” of Obama have been set into place. The two primary components are the gargantuan monstrosities known as ObamaCare and the Financial Reform Bill. They were intentionally designed to be indecipherable. Read the statements of our most brilliant legislative minds in Congress:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA): "[W]e have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it…”

Rep. John Conyers (D-MI): “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages…?”

Christopher Dodd (D-CT): "No one will know until this [financial reform bill] is actually in place how it works.”

An August 5th Wall Street Journal editorial on ObamaCare said this:

Earlier this week, the Congressional Research Service reported that the new bureaucracy the bill created is so complex and indiscriminate that its size is "currently unknowable." Capitol Hill's independent policy arm added that among "the dozens of new governmental organizations or advisory bodies," it is "impossible to know how much influence they will ultimately have."

The bottom line is that it doesn’t matter what is written in these convoluted legislative nightmares. They are merely concepts to be molded and interpreted in any way the administration desires. The people who will perform these interpretations are the very scary regulatory czar Cass Sunstein and history’s largest assembled collection of 60’s radicals appointed as government bureaucrats. They, along with Obama, are now in complete control of our lives.

Congressman Pete Stark (D-CA) may be an elitist and a fool, but I believe he is correct when he recently said, “The federal government, yes, can do most anything in this country.” He should have added, “…if it is corrupt enough”.

With a total disregard for the US Constitution and no discernable moral compass, Obama’s Chicago mob administration looks a lot like a dictatorship, but it is hardly “benign”. To use a clinical term, it is a “pathocracy”, i.e., a malignant government.

As Mr. Spock used to say, “Live long and prosper”. With ObamaCare and Financial Reform dictating our future, I fear we shall do neither.

Homeland Security Proves Effective at Protecting Itself

For the Department of Homeland Security, “the system worked”. Over the past year, the DHS has tried to protect itself from annoying and unwanted requests for information they were legally required to provide through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), according to a report by AP:

For at least a year, the Homeland Security Department detoured requests for federal records to senior political advisers for highly unusual scrutiny, probing for information about the requesters and delaying disclosures deemed too politically sensitive, according to nearly 1,000 pages of internal e-mails obtained by The Associated Press.

Most disturbingly, the requesters themselves became targets of government investigation. FOIA documents are intended by law to be freely accessible to all American citizens upon request. The intent of the law is subverted if one becomes too intimidated to ask for the information due to the potential for government retribution. Per the report:

Career employees were ordered to provide Secretary Janet Napolitano's political staff with information about the people who asked for records — such as where they lived, whether they were private citizens or reporters — and about the organizations where they worked.

If a member of Congress sought such documents, employees were told to specify Democrat or Republican.

Coincidentally, this policy was immediately rescinded just as the AP got their hands on the DHS internal e-mails.

This subterfuge over FOIA requests is not unique. Requests have been ignored or refused by other government agencies under the Obama administration. Internal FCC letters concerning discussions of “talk radio” have been concealed from FOIA requests. Requests for climate change data from NASA have been denied. FOIA record requests were ignored by the Holder DOJ concerning the New Black Panther voter intimidation case. And of course all FOIA requests for Obama’s historical documents, particularly the infamous phantom birth certificate, have been vigorously fought in court and the requesters publicly ridiculed.

Update: The SEC has exempted itself from FIOA requests.

To me, this proves that cockroaches and progressives cannot stand the light of day.

I hope Obama and the Holder Justice Dept. succeed in their efforts to overturn the Arizona immigration law. This should happen, not because it is racist or unfair. But once the Arizona law is out of the way as a political football for the Progressive pro-amnesty crowd, the entire focus of culpability for the consequences of lax border security will be on Obama’s shoulders.

As highlighted by Frank Ross in BigJournalism.com, a 2006 report by the House Committee on Homeland Security spells out the escalating horrors occurring on the southern border. Drug cartels have become sophisticated paramilitary organizations, utilizing military weaponry and armor. They have taken control of border cities, ruthlessly kidnapping, torturing, raping, and murdering innocent US and Mexican citizens.

An even greater concern in the report is that 650 potential terrorists from “special interest countries” were caught crossing the border in 2006. Since federal law enforcement estimates that 10% to 30% of illegal aliens are apprehended, that means that literally thousands of suspected terrorists are smuggled into the US every year.

In fact, a Hezb'allah leader, Jameel Nasr, was arrested at his home this week by Mexican police, accused of organizing a terror network in conjunction with Mexican drug cartels. His home is in Tijuana, just a few miles from the California border. At least we can count on the Mexican authorities to protect Americans from Hezb'allah terrorism, if no one else.

The official estimates of all illegal aliens successfully entering the country across the Mexican border, many escaping criminal prosecution in their home countries, are as high as 10 million per year. Estimates of drugs smuggled annually into the US are as high as 2.2 million kilograms of cocaine and 11.6 million kilograms of marijuana, based on 2005 numbers.

The bottom line is that this is not likely to end well for us, even if the Arizona law is upheld. Unless they have a change of heart and act decisively, the Obama administration’s recalcitrance against protecting the border and the American people for rank partisan political reasons will become their undoing.

The Leftist “Purification” Movement

To the contemporary conservative, progressive ideology is often murky and incomprehensible. It is very difficult for someone on the right to understand the apparently illogical and unrealistic machinations of the radical leftist mindset. Their political objectives, if achieved, inevitably lead to further demands for concessions toward an ever-greater ideological purity.

Something even darker and more malevolent is happening, however. The various radical leftist factions and special interest groups are rapidly coalescing into a global movement.

A comprehensive and enlightening treatise on this topic was recently published in Orbis, the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s journal of world affairs, written by University of Buffalo professor Ernest Steinberg. The article is titled, “Purifying the World: What the New Radical Ideology Stands For”. It will open your eyes and scare you to death.

In Steinberg’s analysis, from the historical ashes of failed fascist and communist regimes a new totalitarian ideology is emerging:

Though a mouthful, world purificationism would do well in expressing what the movement wants. It wants to achieve a grand historical vision: the anticipated defeat of imperial capitalist power in favor of a global network of beneficent culture-communities, which will empower themselves through grassroots participatory democracy, and maintain consistency across movements through the rectifying power of NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), thereby bringing into being a new era of global social justice and sustainable development, in which the diverse communities can harmoniously share an earth that has been saved from destruction and remade pristine.

The sworn enemy of the purifiers is simply referred to as “Empire” (preceding it with “the Evil” is not necessary, apparently). Empire’s evil manifestations are capitalism and Zionism. The geographical focus of purificationism’s hatred is the United States and Israel.

Steinberg compares the new movement to previous anti-capitalist and anti-Zionist movements:

Unmentionable for decades in progressive scholarly company, the similarity between totalitarianisms has once again received academic attention, in part because of interest in comparing Soviet, Maoist, Khmer, and Nazi genocides. The new work has renewed appreciation that fascism and communism did not just have similar regimes. They also shared parallel ideologies. […]

Convinced that they have this unique mission, they must motivate hatred of opponents. They carry out or at least legitimize ruthless violence. And they assert the privilege to shape life’s purpose and meaning for millions.

The purificationist dream is a world without borders, governed by a global network of NGO’s. Almost all current activist organizations containing the words “green”, “justice”, “peace”, or “solidarity” would find a position in the ruling structure. These NGO’s would gravitate toward forming a totalitarian regime since, as Steinberg points out, they are “unaccountable to an electorate and escape political checks and balances…”

Even more disturbing is the increasing coalition between progressivism and radical Islam. Steinberg’s piece includes a quote from George Galloway, a progressive British parliamentarian, when asked if Muslims and progressives could unite in a common cause:

Not only do I think it’s possible but I think it is vitally necessary and I think it is happening already. It is possible because the progressive movement around the world and the Muslims have the same enemies… They have the same interest in opposing savage capitalist globalization which is intent upon homogenizing the entire world turning us basically into factory chickens which can be forced fed the American diet of everything from food to Coca-Cola to movies and TV culture... So on the very grave big issues of the day—issues of war, occupation, justice, opposition to globalization—the Muslims and the progressives are on the same side.

To me, this sounds like a coalition between factory chickens and poultry butchers. But it exemplifies the unreality in the strategic thinking of progressives. They visualize a world of communities living in perfect harmony with nature and each other, with minimal industrial activity, no profit motive, and no greed. Everyone is tolerant of others’ beliefs (unless they are capitalists or conservatives). How they intend to deal with the violent intolerance of Islam toward other religions and cultures is not considered.

It is imperative to thoroughly understand this evolving ideological movement in order to effectively resist it. The socialist ideology is so pervasive that it will probably never be completely defeated. Time after time, it has been seemingly destroyed and discredited, only to rise again in a new incarnation. Its adherents play by no rules (other than Alinsky’s), and their ends justify any means required.

One issue that Steinberg does not address is the pervasive, unrelenting propaganda machine that constitutes the progressive mainstream media. As long as free-thinking individuals are misled and kept ignorant of the purificationist agenda, the infiltration of our institutions and the destruction of our freedoms and values will continue.

We who believe in capitalism, the US Constitution, and individual liberty must do everything possible to educate others and disrupt this movement. Otherwise, the sweet dreams of the purifiers will inevitably result in an unending totalitarian nightmare of global proportions.

The phrase “useful idiots” has taken on new meaning with Obama’s betrayal of the Business Roundtable, an exclusive club of distinguished corporate CEO’s. Kimberley Strassel’s op ed in Friday’s Wall Street Journal reports that the Roundtable “worked closely with policy makers” in the Obama administration to help enact the Democrat agenda, and played a key role in getting Obama Care passed in Congress. They were outspoken in their support of new regulations, taxes, and green initiatives. It was almost as though they were a de facto arm of the Democrat Party, taking positions similar to SEIU, AARP, and ACORN.

What motivated these bastions of capitalism to sell their souls to the progressive movement? How does the Obama thugocracy get everything done? Through threats and bribes.

First, Obama threatened to discontinue tax breaks to evil American multinational companies who “ship jobs overseas”. Next, he dropped a carrot through Clinton minion Robert Reich: "The President needs the cooperation of many big corporations if he's going to get universal health insurance…He might be willing to take [the tax hikes] off the table if big corporations lend him active support . . ."

So naturally they folded like a deck of cards, helping to usher in the largest government expansion and takeover of the private sector economy in history. Then they learned how well appeasement worked for Neville Chamberlain.

Roundtable President John Castellani and his pals are now “shocked” to now find out that Obama had no intention of taking corporate tax increases off the table. $14 billion in new corporate taxes have been pushed through the House, with the promise of more business- and job-killing horrors to come.

And what does the NRA anticipate the result of their cave-in to congressional Democrats will be, acquiescing to a “carve-out” in the First Amendment perversion known as the DISCLOSE Act in return for their silent endorsement of the bill? Why should they think they won’t be screwed, just like the Business Roundtable and everyone else who runs up against our Chicago Way government? One group is getting screwed for sure – the American people.

When conservatives and capitalists sacrifice their principles to dance with the devil, everyone pays the piper.

God, Socialism, and the Lowest Common Denominator

“Faith-based initiatives”, once anathema to the political left when promoted by President Bush in 2003, are now highly popular with the Obama administration. Not only do they embrace the once-reviled church-state relationship, Obama’s forces are now co-opting religious groups for the purpose of furthering their political and ideological goals. Former vociferous critics of this apparent infringement of church and state separation are amazingly silent. As TheocracyWatch.org stated in 2004, “Under the Bush administration, our country is experiencing a major transformation from a secular to a religious government.”

Now, Nancy Pelosi implores Catholic clergy to promote illegal immigrant amnesty from the pulpits and the EPA offers ministers “access to financing” for preaching the gospel of global warming.

Why are critics on the left silent? Because they understand that it is not Obama’s intention to transform “from a secular to a religious government”. It is to transform religion into a secular arm of the State to promote the tenets of socialism under the banner of “social justice”.

The radicalization of Islam is a prime example of the successful transformation of a religion into a government-controlled nightmare of evil. Could this happen to Christianity or Judaism? Absolutely, it has happened before. The Spanish Inquisition comes to mind. But are religious organizations and socialism natural partners? Is God a socialist? In a word, the answer is a resounding “NO”.

For centuries, Catholicism has been at odds with repressive regimes whose leaders understood that belief in God is a barrier against government control of the populace. The following was written in 1891 in the Encyclical of Pope Leo XIII “On Capital and Labor”:

The elements of the conflict now raging are unmistakable, in the vast expansion of industrial pursuits and the marvelous discoveries of science; in the changed relations between masters and workmen; in the enormous fortunes of some few individuals, and the utter poverty of the masses; the increased self reliance and closer mutual combination of the working classes; as also, finally, in the prevailing moral degeneracy. […]

To remedy these wrongs the socialists, working on the poor man's envy of the rich, are striving to do away with private property, and contend that individual possessions should become the common property of all, to be administered by the State or by municipal bodies. […]

Socialists, therefore, by endeavoring to transfer the possessions of individuals to the community at large, strike at the interests of every wage-earner, since they would deprive him of the liberty of disposing of his wages, and thereby of all hope and possibility of increasing his resources and of bettering his condition in life. […]

And in addition to injustice, it is only too evident what an upset and disturbance there would be in all classes, and to how intolerable and hateful a slavery citizens would be subjected. The door would be thrown open to envy, to mutual invective, and to discord; the sources of wealth themselves would run dry, for no one would have any interest in exerting his talents or his industry; and that ideal equality about which they entertain pleasant dreams would be in reality the leveling down of all to a like condition of misery and degradation. Hence, it is clear that the main tenet of socialism, community of goods, must be utterly rejected, since it only injures those whom it would seem meant to benefit, is directly contrary to the natural rights of mankind, and would introduce confusion and disorder into the commonweal. The first and most fundamental principle, therefore, if one would undertake to alleviate the condition of the masses, must be the inviolability of private property.

Echoing Pope Leo XIII, noted Catholic priest Fr. John Corapi writes in his book, “Letters”, published in 2010:

At a time when it surely seems that capitalism has run amuck and poised the world on the edge of economic ruin, the temptation is very strong for the pendulum to swing too far left into the failed and immoral territory of socialism. Historically pure socialism has never worked, philosophically it cannot work, and morally it is inherently evil… The common error is to think that socialism helps the poor and disenfranchised… Rather, it reduces everyone to the same lowest common denominator of poverty and misery, while at the same time drying up the very sources of capital.

Socialism has never raised the standard of living or improved the moral complexion of a society. Instead, it lowers the economic and societal norms, as is occurring in Venezuela. The larger the social collective, the lower its common denominator will be.

We are now witnessing the fall of socialist Europe. Greece, their weakest link, becomes the lowest common denominator. Like mountain climbers tethered together by a rope, first Greece loses its grip and falls. The higher European nations are dragged off the cliff one by one. They are all equally flattened at the bottom of the mountain. Social justice and economic equality prevails.

The only positive outcome of this collapse is that it may temporarily slow the march toward global governance once the inevitable consequences become evident. One can only imagine the lowest common denominator environment in a global socialist regime. Perhaps Somalia will be the model for society in the dystopian future. The US must untie the rope before it is dragged into the abyss with the rest of the international socialist mountain climbers.

Greek labor unions are rioting on the streets of Athens. On May 5th, the protesters fire-bombed a bank, killing three people. After last week’s episode of an angry SEIU mob protesting at a private residence in Maryland, is it so hard to envision the union-driven anarchy in Athens repeated on our streets? A question for Janet Napolitano: Based on these recent events, who is more likely to be a “domestic terrorist”? A Tea Party protester or a union thug?

As Fr. Corapi states, socialism is “inherently evil”. How could God be a socialist? After all, He addresses the issue in two of his Ten Commandments:

#8: Thou shall not steal.

#10: Thou shall not covet your neighbor's house; thou shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.

In other words, keep your damn hands off of other people’s property.

Was The SC Democrat Primary a Test Run for Massive November Voter Fraud?

An article in FoxNews.com exposes the potential for massive voter fraud using electronic voting machines. Were the ES&S electronic voting machines in South Carolina tampered with? How is it possible that a total unknown like Alvin Greene, who ran no campaign and is facing a felony conviction, was able to win over the official Democrat Party nominee by 59% of the vote? That is a virtual landslide. Mr. Greene won 11% more of the absentee votes than standard votes, which is highly unusual and suspicious. This is similar to how Al Franken stole the Senate seat away from Norm Coleman in Minnesota.

Was this a test to see if the November elections can be stolen en mass? Republican Jim DeMint is a virtual lock to gain re-election. Democrat operatives would have little to lose in testing a voter fraud scheme on this primary election, in preparation for the big one in November.

OK, it sounds like a conspiracy theory, but something very bizarre has happened here. And we know how devious Democrats get when they are desperate. We need to solve this mystery.

Economics professor Daniel Klein has apparently found a significant blind spot in the progressive intellect. Ignorance of basic economics seems to be a consistent trait in the ultra-liberal mind, a place where ideology trumps reason and logic.

In his June 8 Wall Street Journal article, “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader”, Klein explains:

Who is better informed about the policy choices facing the country—liberals, conservatives or libertarians? According to a Zogby International survey that I write about in the May issue of Econ Journal Watch, the answer is unequivocal: The left flunks Econ 101.

The Zogby survey asked 4,835 American adults to identify their political ideology as either libertarian, very conservative, conservative, moderate, liberal, or progressive/very liberal. They were then provided eight fairly basic economic assertions, and asked to respond to each statement.

Consider one of the economic propositions in the December 2008 poll: "Restrictions on housing development make housing less affordable." People were asked if they: 1) strongly agree; 2) somewhat agree; 3) somewhat disagree; 4) strongly disagree; 5) are not sure.

The correct response, of course, is to agree with the statement. After all, fewer available houses will naturally make them more expensive. This is simple supply and demand economics. In this survey question, the only incorrect responses counted were “somewhat disagree” and “strongly disagree”. “Not sure” was not an incorrect answer for any of the questions.

The other questions were: 1) Mandatory licensing of professional services increases the prices of those services (unenlightened answer: disagree). 2) Overall, the standard of living is higher today than it was 30 years ago (unenlightened answer: disagree). 3) Rent control leads to housing shortages (unenlightened answer: disagree). 4) A company with the largest market share is a monopoly (unenlightened answer: agree). 5) Third World workers working for American companies overseas are being exploited (unenlightened answer: agree). 6) Free trade leads to unemployment (unenlightened answer: agree). 7) Minimum wage laws raise unemployment (unenlightened answer: disagree).

How did the six ideological groups do overall? Here they are, best to worst, with an average number of incorrect responses from 0 to 8: Very conservative, 1.30; Libertarian, 1.38; Conservative, 1.67; Moderate, 3.67; Liberal, 4.69; Progressive/very liberal, 5.26.

Based on party affiliation, Democrats averaged 4.59 incorrect answers, Republicans averaged 1.61 incorrect, and Libertarians 1.26 incorrect. As Mr. Kline states, “The pattern was not an anomaly.” It is compelling evidence that the further you lean left, the more ignorant you are of basic economics.

This test appears to be a wonderful indicator of political ideology. Ask your friends and family these questions and see where they stand. They may learn something in the process.

While we’re at it, I can think of a few more. Ask if they agree with the following statements:

“We can borrow our way out of debt.”

“Higher taxes on the ‘wealthy’ will revive the economy.”

“Government control of health care will improve quality and reduce costs.”

“Taxing carbon dioxide production will lead to energy independence.”

“Pigs can fly and unicorns are real.”

If it is legitimate for the MSM to speculate on whether conservative talk radio and Fox News could inflame an unstable right-wing “nut case” into a violent act, then the opposite question can be posed as well. Was would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad “radicalized” by the incessant drumbeat of hatred toward George W. Bush by CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC and left-wing talk radio for the years during which Shahzad was a US resident?

In 2004, Shahzad bought a house through real estate agent Igor Djuric. Asked about Shahzad, Djuric recently told a New York CBS affiliate, “He didn't like the war and he didn't like the president (Bush)." Djuric went on to say, "I'm a stranger and just met him and he mentioned that. Normally we don't go like that and tell strangers our feelings like that." Apparently, Shahzad had developed some strong emotional opinions, hateful enough to attempt the slaughter of hundreds of innocent Americans. Did the virulent hatred eschewed by leftist MSM commentators push him into becoming a radical Islamic terrorist?

Obviously, there is no proof of this. On the other hand, has the lack of proof prevented President Obama and former President Clinton from decrying the potential for conservative commentators to incite violence? If, as Clinton recently stated, he believes the "right-wing media" and blogosphere could be culpable for any future politically-fueled extremism, then he must now admit that the “left-wing media” and blogosphere could be culpable for Faisal Shahzad.

I use Yahoo as the home page for my internet browser. This exposes me to the daily global warming propaganda Yahoo publishes, with correspondingly outrageous, inflammatory headlines. These types of articles are specifically selected to frighten us into acceding to the pro-warming political forces’ demands, including surrendering our freedoms and our prosperity.

The May 5 headline is “Earth Could Become Too Hot for Humans”. Oh, no! Please make it stop! We’ll do anything you say! Cap and Trade taxation? No problem. Global governance? If that’s what it takes, do it. Those who stand to gain can’t let this manufactured crisis go to waste.

The source article was written by Brett Israel, posted on the blog livescience.com. In the piece, climate scientist Matthew Huber was quoted as saying:

We found that a warming of 12 degrees Fahrenheit (roughly 7 degrees Celsius) would cause some areas of the world to surpass the wet-bulb temperature limit, and a 21-degree warming would put half of the world's population in an uninhabitable environment.

However, the article admits, “The study did not address how likely this worst-case scenario is…” In other words, the study did not, as the headline would indicate, find that global warming will cause the Earth to become uninhabitable. Preacher Arrested by Community Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Police for Saying Homosexuality is a Sin

God save the Queens! Great Britain has always been a bellwether state, warning the US of the burgeoning irrationality, depravity, and all-around political insanity in Anglo-Saxon thinking. But now, even Monty Python couldn’t satirize the Orwellian depths to which the UK nation has sunk. Orwell himself would be aghast.

England enacted a “Public Order Act” in 1986, which was initially intended to deal with public disorder and violence. The law has since been modified to the extent that it is now a punishable offense for anyone to use “abusive or insulting” language. All that is needed is someone who has been “offended” to report the crime to a “Police Community Support Officer (CPSO)”, i.e., a citizen who yearns to be a little Eichmann (ala Ward Churchill) and is given power over others in the community.

Apparently, there are a number of specialities in these CPSOs. An incident occurred on May 2 in Workington, Cumbria UK where a Baptist street preacher had a heated discussion with a passerby. The female passerby vehemently disagreed with the preacher, who said he believed that homosexuality, along with blasphemy and drunkenness, are sins. Incensed, the woman approached a CPSO who happened to specialize in speech crimes against lesbians, gays, bisexuals, or trangenders, and lodged a complaint.

The CPSO informed the preacher that “racist or homophobic” speech is against the law. The preacher was booked and jailed. Given that the legacy media has branded all American Tea Party rhetoric as “racist and homophobic”, imagine what the Obama administration could do with such a law.

We will catch up to Great Britain. It is only a matter of time.

Court Forces University to Invite Bill Ayers

The University of Wyoming has been ordered to invite domestic terrorist Bill Ayers to speak at their Laramie campus. Initially, Ayers had been invited to speak by the university Social Justice Research Center, but was later uninvited by UW President Tom Buchanan following protests by conservative student groups. Ayres filed a lawsuit and won a district court ruling, forcing UW to provide him with a lecture facility and adequate security for the event.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the First Amendment, so I do not take issue with the ruling. No one should be silenced from expressing their political opinions, no matter how onerous they may be to others. However, this must apply to both ends of the spectrum.

Ayers, in my opinion, is one of the most evil men currently living. Mr. “Guilty as sin, free as a bird, it’s a great country”, actively plotted to overthrow the US government through the terrorist Weather Underground organization. Horrifically, he planned for the mass execution of millions of Americans who would resist his revolution after it was successful.

In spite of who he is, what he has done, and what he continues to do to undermine and destroy America’s Constitutional foundation, he has the right to speak.

There’s only one problem with this righteous defense of free speech. Although universities are profuse in their invitations to radical leftist speakers, they are notoriously discriminatory against voices on the right. Will this court ruling open the doors to force universities to invite conservative speakers?

I look forward to the potential lawsuits filed by Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and Rush Limbaugh, among many others.

Reuters: Everything Bad is Caused by Global Warming

On April 20, Reuters reported in a logic-deficient article that spring has arrived ten days early this year due to global warming. On the 22nd, they now report that a deadly strain of fungus is spreading across North America. The last sentence of this article states, “Freezing can kill the fungus and climate change may be helping it spread, the researchers said.”

Wait a minute. Again, this doesn’t mesh with facts and logic. We have just suffered through one of the coldest winters in decades. A winter where unprecedented freezing temperatures have decimated the tomato crop in the US from Pittsburgh to Orlando. How can Reuters support the statement, “Freezing can kill the fungus and climate change may be helping it spread…”?

Perhaps Reuters should just end every article they publish with the boiler plate phrase, “…and climate change may be responsible for the problem, researchers said.”

The Amazing Disappearance of Winter due to Global Warming

In an urgent call to the media by the Union of Concerned Scientists (composed primarily of “citizen scientists”, i.e., political activists dedicated to promoting the Obama agenda on energy and nuclear disarmament) it was breathlessly announced that spring has arrived ten days earlier this year due to global warming. This was a stunning revelation to me, as I thought the seasons were caused by the Earth’s tilt toward the Sun. I was intrigued by the premise that this group of obviously qualified authorities might believe that global warming has caused the Earth’s axis to shift ten days early.

But alas, that wasn’t the case. In an April 20 Reuters article on this proclamation, it was revealed that the winter season is apparently shrinking due to “spring creep”. Oddly, there was no mention of a corresponding “summer creep”, which logically should occur if the world is getting warmer. However, these are activist scientists, not logisticians.

As explained by one Concerned Scientist:

Ecological mismatches can be fatal when some species adapt to early warmth and others don't, according to Jake Weltzin of the U.S. Geological Survey.

Weltzin described a series of mysterious miscarriages by mares in the U.S. southeast that were caused by caterpillars that contained a chemical that made the pregnant horses miscarry.

Normally, the caterpillars would have been consumed by migrating birds, leaving none to fall from trees into the mares' grassy pastures. But the birds' migration was late, letting the caterpillars fall from trees and into the grass the mares were eating, Weltzin said.

After a little research, I found that Mr. Weltzin has made similar proclamations over the past decade or so. In fact, last spring he was quoted in a Seattle Times article stating the following:

The birds used to arrive in Europe and nest in time for their chicks to take advantage of a seasonal caterpillar explosion. But the caterpillars now peak 16 days earlier. As a result, chicks are starving and some flycatcher populations have plummeted 90 percent.

"These mismatches in timing could be happening all over," said Jake Weltzin…

Mismatches, indeed. Are birds migrating later or caterpillars peaking earlier due to global warming? The narrative seems to creep like the spring.

More amazingly, the same 2009 article reported that spring “is about a week earlier than it was 50 years ago.” Does that mean that winter is shrinking by three days each year? If true, by my calculation winter should disappear entirely by 2037.

Wow, that closely matches up with the IPCC scientists’ report that the Himalayan glaciers will disappear by then. Oh, but that was revealed in the Climategate scandal to be “voodoo science”, conjured up to inflame the public with fear in order to promote a global warming political agenda. I’m sure the Concerned Scientists Union report is completely different.

In celebration, children from Barack Obama Elementary, Barack H. Obama Middle School, and BHO HS will entertain the first family with the patriotic song, “Mmm, Mmm, Mmm”. Commerce Secretary Van Jones issued a press release Friday night that another “enhancement” to the VAT will be initiated this month, producing a rise from 40% to 52% on all purchased goods. This enhancement, along with the rising Unhealthy Foods Tax will inflate the price of a McDonald’s Big Mac to $159.95. The President reminds us that he has not increased the federal income tax “one dime” since last year.

“New Normal” Adjustments Made
Washington, DC – The Obama Administration today released the latest adjustments to their “new normal” assessment of the US economy. Starting next week, national rolling blackouts will increase to three hours per day. Energy Secretary Jeffrey Immelt is reassuring citizens and businesses that the GE “Smart Grid” should be able to hold up at current levels despite chronic energy shortages and the latest EMP bomb attacks from Iran.

Food production on government farms has slowed due to steadily increasing EPA and FDA regulations. Waiting lines for bread, milk, eggs and other staples will start at 6 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Meat rations will be issued on Tuesdays. In more upbeat news, increased gasoline production at the nation’s remaining refinery will result in doubling the number of lines available at the pumps on gas ration Thursdays and Saturdays.

Surrounded by an atmosphere of fanfare and celebration, Labor Secretary Andy Stern announced under the new reporting guidelines that employment in the private sector rose from 36 to 37 percent this month, while public sector employment remains at 100 percent. Well done, Andy!

Climate Scientists’ Dire Predictions Proven Correct
United Nations - After decades of fighting with uninformed climate change deniers, the world’s foremost climate scientists have finally compiled unequivocal evidence to prove their climate change hypothesis, initially established in 1974. Ever since the spring of 2010, arctic ice has been increasing at an alarming rate. Now that many people regularly ride the bus from Seattle, WA to Vladivostok, Russia, it is painfully obvious that we are entering the next Ice Age. “Saving our planet from this anthropogenic disaster will require funneling trillions of US tax dollars into a new global governmental authority”, said Nobel Prize winner Al Gore. “The narrative hasn’t changed, only the facts.”

As we all know now, he was absolutely right. Sending the old people to death panels has saved a great deal of money for the federal government. Social Security and Medicare programs are completely solvent now that senior citizens make up less than 10% of the total population.

President Obama’s great gift to the nation, the ever-evolving and growing universal healthcare system has resulted in many economic developments. The booming “medical tourism” industry has flourished, reviving the economies of Mexico and Costa Rica. The entire country of India has now been classified as a customer service center by the US Department of Health and Human Services. Career opportunities for RNs and hospital orderlies to diagnose illnesses and perform invasive surgical procedures have skyrocketed thanks to the critical doctor shortage. Impact on the overall US economy remains unclear, although Treasury Secretary Monica Conyers recently announced that the deficit figures will henceforth be reported in “quadrillions”.

Troops Retake Occupied City
Houston, TX - American troops valiantly battled the Juárez Cartel to retake El Paso yesterday. Similar military campaigns were conducted against cartels occupying San Diego, Chicago, and Des Moines this past week, with less successful results. Captured cartel members will not be tried as “enemy combatants” as they have been in the US for more than 30 days, making them US citizens under the recently passed McCain-Franken bill.

In an unrelated story, Rush Limbaugh, operating from a pirate radio station on an offshore vessel, was arrested, stripped of his citizenship and declared an “enemy combatant”. He was charged with the hate crime of calling Democrats “liars”.

Is Obama Making the MSM Obsolete?

President Obama has not held a full White House press conference since July 22, 2009, over nine months ago. In his first six months of office, Obama held 19 press conferences. This is the forth highest number for a president among the last 14 presidents, exceeded only by Hoover, Truman, and Clinton.

The White House Press Corps and the MSM are becoming very nervous. The White House has discovered that they can get their message out to the public without the “filter” of the media to slow them down. Continuing to operate under the template that it is their job to make Obama a success, the MSM has been completely unwilling to call him out on this. Alternatively, President Bush was excoriated by the MSM for avoiding the press for any extended period of time throughout his two terms of office.

As a result, Obama is operating freely in his campaign mode, getting his message out through speeches in friendly environments and personal interviews with friendly news correspondents (although this didn’t work out so well with Fox News’ Bret Baier, who didn’t get the memo that it is his job to make Obama look good). To compound their self-destructive lemming march, the MSM continues to defend the President’s avoidance.

For those who report the news, it is all about being a “filter” of information. Theoretically, this means fact-checking the data and putting in the proper context. The problem is that the MSM filter has become so warped and broken that its product is indistinguishable from unfiltered White House propaganda. Reporters have become Obama’s stenographers.

Daily Beast blogger Lloyd Grove relays a recent interview with CBS senior White House correspondent Bill Plante conducted by Mark Knoller, a CBS radio reporter:

“Technology has made it much easier now for the White House,” Plante went on. “The availability of all this material means that people have to do their own filtering. The so-called mainstream media, which believes it has the experience to do the filtering, isn’t there to do it for them, and for a lot of people that’s just fine. They resent the hell out of us anyway.”

So what’s wrong with that?

“In the end, who gets the decent information? The people who rely on trusted filters, whether they’re online or on the air,” Plante replied. “If you do it all yourself, you’re gonna get a load of crap!”

Hmmm. Excuse me, but I believe that is a difference without a distinction.

Is Obama obsolescing the legacy media by circumvention? I don’t think so. Because leftists lack critical thinking skills by nature, theirs is a world of unintended consequences. The leftist MSM outlets have sown the seeds of their own demise by making themselves irrelevant.

The Next Move of the Alinsky Left

The war between the left and right has been ratcheted up this past weekend. Although a philosophical war of words, to the committed Alinsky left it is nonetheless a deadly serious war.

The progressive movement has long been known for its intolerance of opposing philosophies and its propensity for violence to attain its goals. As Noel Sheppard notes, at the 2008 Republican Convention leftist demonstrators hospitalized conventioneers with bricks thrown through bus windows and sandbags dropped from overpasses onto passing cars. The progressive media looked the other way.

Following the passage of Obamacare, much media frenzy has surrounded incidents where a coffin was put on congressman Carnahan’s front lawn (didn’t happen) and a brick was thrown through congresswoman Slaughter’s Niagara Falls office window. Of course, the last time someone smashed Democratic Party office windows, a Democrat was found responsible.

Now, new incidents of Democrat windows being broken have been reported, some credible, some not. These are being used by the progressive media as a weapon against the Tea Party conservatives. Since this type of childish vandalism is a signature act of progressivism, I would search for suspects on the left side of the aisle.

The Tea Party demonstrations in DC the previous weekend were noted by the progressive media only for an “alleged” incident (although some reports did not use the word “alleged”) of a black congressman being “spit on”, and another of someone shouting the “n-word”.

The question I have is, why did these congresspeople, including Emmanuel Cleaver (the alleged “spitee”, who actually walked too close to a protester shouting “kill the bill” and got sprayed), Barney Frank, and Nancy Pelosi deliberately march into the demonstration and confront the Tea Partiers? After all, wasn’t it Nancy herself who said she was “frightened” by these supposedly violent people? Is it possible that they wanted to provoke a reaction from the crowd to be used by the media to demonize the Tea Party movement (i.e., “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it”)? Is it also possible that when there was nothing sufficiently provoked by the lawmakers’ confrontation, they decided to fabricate it? I believe their previous records of untruthfulness support this hypothesis.

Andrew Breitbart raised the stakes by offering a reward of $10,000 to anyone who could prove a Tea Partier shouted the “n-word”. Despite the dozens of video cameras on the scene, no one has yet claimed the prize. Next, the Associated Press attacked Breitbart in a “news” story, saying that he has no proof that the incident didn’t happen. In response, Breitbart has now raised the reward to $100,000.

What do you suppose will be the next move by the Alinsky left? There are a large number of Tea Party demonstrations scheduled around the country in April. I don’t believe there is any doubt that the left will step up their attempts to provoke a Tea Party incident that they can capture on video. Even more likely, they will infiltrate demonstrations and create ugly incidents masquerading as Tea Party participants. The progressive media, doing their part for the cause, will appear at more of these events for the sole purpose of broadcasting the “proof” of Tea Party racism and/or violence.

Those of us who intend to participate in these demonstrations need to do two things:

1) Do not allow yourself or another Tea Partier to be taunted or provoked into saying or doing anything that could be interpreted as racist or violent. Always be civil and act intelligently. You never know when you are being recorded.

2) Take a video camera with you and record the faces of anyone instigating or participating in any such incidences so that they can be identified later.

Remember, to those on the Alinsky left, this is a war. And as Saul Alinsky wrote, "The third rule of ethics of means and ends is that in war the end justifies almost any means...."

The Foul Stench of Dead Fish and Obama Corruption

Something’s fishy in the state of California, and it stinks of political corruption most foul. The water supply to the San Joaquin valley was shut off on December 2008 and remains off today, destroying thousands of lives and livelihoods of the farmers, small business owners and their employees who live and work in the valley. Additionally, it has crippled our domestic crop production, of which about 12% was grown in this area.

This tremendous sacrifice was absolutely necessary, at least according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Obama administration. A valuable endangered species, the Delta Smelt, was being threatened by the diversion of water into the valley. Local salmon and steelhead were threatened, as well.

The overwhelming menace to the Pacific ecosystem was so extreme that no amount of pleading from California politicians such as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger or Senator Dianne Feinstein could persuade Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, or President Obama to turn the water back on. On this, they had to take a principled stand. What courage these brave men posessed to steadfasly defend such a sensitive moral and ethical issue. Our natural resources and environmental sactity must rightly outweigh the lives of 40,000 citizens and 12% of the nation’s food supply.

Uh well, not quite. Apparently, the Obama administration values something even more than all the endangered species, American lives, and food shortages combined. That would be the two ObamaCare “yes” votes miraculously garnered from two previously undecided Democrat congressmen, Reps. Costa and Cardoza, whose disctricts are coincidentally affected by the government-imposed drought. This announcement on March 16 coincided (again, coincidentally) with the US Department of Interior’s announcement that they have had a change of heart, and now will turn the water back on.

I guess the environment is not that important an issue in Obama’s agenda, after all. Not today, anyway. At least not until there is a need to use it as a weapon to forcably extract more of our freedoms. Maybe tomorrow.

There Will Be Blood

On March 15, Robert Reich wrote in The Huffington Post, “Health care reform is necessary, and House Democrats should vote for it because it's best for the nation.” He then went on to justify his assertion purely in terms of positive outcomes for Democrats, not for the people who will be required to live with the actual “reform”.

Of course as we all know by now, the true intent of this bill is not to improve the quality of care or to make the current level of care cheaper. It is in fact a purposeful effort by Democrats to do the exact opposite in order to ultimately gain control over the citizenry.

“Aw, that’s a bunch of neocon conspiracy crap”, some of the more progressively-enabled may say. Listen to what Robert Reich had to say about progressive healthcare reform back on September 26, 2007:

This is what the truth is…If you are very old, we’re not going to give you all of that technology and all of those drugs…to keep you alive. It’s too expensive, so we’re going to let you die…(We’re) going to use the bargaining leverage of the federal government…to force drug companies and insurance companies and medical suppliers to reduce their costs. That means less innovation, and that means less new products and less new drugs on the market, which means you are probably not going to live that much longer than your parents.

Leave it to a true-believer progressive to yearn for the degradation of healthcare access and quality to the lowest common denominator. Why is that, you ask? When they “spread the health”, another stepping stone to the progressive social justice utopian fantasy will be attained.

It is especially galling that they are more than willing to resort to corrupt parliamentary tactics in order to obtain their ill-gotten power grab. Come to think of it, this underhanded process is a metaphor of their intentions for the entire nation. First, they will “Slaughter” it, and then they will “Reconcile” it to their desires.

There is a lot of discussion about how “angry” progressives will be if this Trojan horse health reform bill is not passed. I do not think the left side of the aisle has any concept of the manifestations of true anger that will be incarnated if that bill is passed.

There will be blood. And it will be shooting out of conservative eyes.

Reconciliation with the Devil

Democrats are the masters at creating unintended consequences. The consequences of using the “Reconciliation” process to pass healthcare reform will likely destroy them.

There may have been a flicker of hope that they could get away with the simple majority fifty-one vote tactic before February 25. Then, Obama’s brainchild, the “healthcare summit”, changed all that. America discovered, through the reluctant major media outlets, that the Republicans had alternative ideas which made sense. Unfortunately for Obama and the Democrat congressional majority, this was an event that the media couldn’t ignore or pretend didn’t exist.

As a result, the Democrats own the healthcare reform issue vis-à-vis Obamacare, and they are swimming against the tide of American voter sentiment. Results of Rasmussen polling of likely voters reveals 56% oppose the plan, with 45% strongly opposed. Sentiment is even stronger against Congress, with only 9% of likely voters believing that they are genuinely trying to help the people. How could anyone believe this when the Democrat majority repeatedly voted down any effort to impose healthcare reform on themselves, as proposed by some Republican legislators?

At this point, the smartest political move would be to scrap the bill and start over as Republicans have suggested. This time, incorporate the Republican ideas of tort reform and private insurance competition across state lines. Downscale the bill to fund only the 12 million American citizens who cannot afford insurance. Take out provisions to fund abortions and illegals. Do this, and the Democrats could hold power for another generation.

Of course this will never happen, at least not through the conscious efforts of Democrats in Congress. Ironically, it is the hard left core of the Democrat base that will save our country from being imprisoned in a government-run healthcare system. Their intransience in this issue is preventing any movement toward compromise with Republicans. In their minds, Obamacare must evolve into incorporation of a” public option”, which then evolves into a government-run single payer system. This has been Obama’s stated goal all along.

But why this inexorable march to the “promised land” of government healthcare control despite the inevitable political costs? The greatest expert on this subject is a sixteenth-century Italian political advisor by the name of Niccolò Machiavelli. (I consider him to be exponentially more intelligent and cultured than Chicago thug advisors Emanuel and Axelrod put together.) In his book, The Prince, published in 1532, he writes:

Wherefore, a wise Prince should devise means whereby his subjects may at all times, whether favourable or adverse, feel the need of the State and of him, and then they will always be faithful to him.

These are the marching orders of the left. However, there is another tenant provided by Machiavelli that is ignored on the left, to their great peril. That is the force of popular sentiment, as expressed in political polls, town halls and tea parties. As Machiavelli states in Discourses on Livy,

It is true that I judge unhappy those princes who have to hold to extraordinary ways to secure their states, since they have the multitude as enemies.

The “extraordinary ways” in our contemporary situation equates to the Reconciliation process. If the Democrats succeed in passing Obamacare using Reconciliation, the Democrat brand will be irrevocably tarnished by this tactic. Republican congressional candidates will be handed elections on a silver platter, if they have the intelligence and guts to take the issue and run with it. (Of course, these are still questionable characteristics for many Republicans.)

Americans in general do not appreciate having anything forced on them against their will. They are also accustomed to receiving something first and paying for it later (e.g., buying big ticket items with zero down and no payments until 2012). In the case of Obamacare, they will be paying for it for three years before receiving anything. Would you buy a new couch with those terms?

Smart Republicans will run on a platform of repealing the bill, starting over, and doing healthcare reform in a less costly manner through the free-market system. They will also remind people that if the Democrats did it once they will do it again with other unpopular legislation. Republican candidates will ask, do you really want to live under a political regime that will not hesitate to force bad laws and policies down your throat against your will, or will you vote for candidates who will force them to listen to you?

Another famous political advisor, Saul Alinsky, writes in his book Rules for Radicals,

It is a world not of angels but of angles, where men speak of moral principles but act on power principles; a world where we are always moral and our enemies always immoral; a world where “reconciliation” means that when one side gets the power and the other side gets reconciled to it, then we have reconciliation…

Alinsky dedicated Rules for Radicals, the playbook for the Democrat left, to the first leftist radical. The original man of wealth and taste. No, not George Soros.

The Science Fair Test

Hypothesis: If the Nobel Prize-winning IPCC scientists submitted their climate change research as a grade-school science fair project, it would fail miserably.

Of course, this hypothesis rests on some assumptions. The first is that science will continue to be taught in our public schools, since some forward-thinkers at Berkeley High School have amazingly discovered that science is actually racially biased.

The second assumption is that the science fair judges (usually teachers) are unbiased toward climate change “science” and actually understand the scientific method. This is a tall assumption, since global warming propaganda is more and more becoming part of the curricula they teach, while scientific method takes a back seat.

To support my hypothesis, I use as my reference “Understanding and using The Scientific Method”, a how-to guide to school science fair projects from Sciencemadesimple.com:

The Scientific Method is a logical and rational order of steps by which scientists come to conclusions about the world around them. […] Scientists use observations, hypotheses, and deductions to make these conclusions, just like you will use the Scientific Method in your science fair project.

The first step of the process is “Observation”:

For this stage of the Scientific Method, it's important to use as many sources as you can find. The more information you have on your science fair project topic, the better the design of your experiment is going to be…

How well did the IPCC do in collecting the observations that have been used to develop their hypothesis? Well, the term “cherry-picking” seems apropos. None of their erstwhile “scientific” observations have included solar cycle or water vapor data, or the sixteen other sources of climate change, only carbon dioxide data, which is highly suspect.

All of the observations of supposedly increasing global temperatures and resulting melting glaciers have been made by this UN agency with no substantiating objective evidence to support it.

In fact, a new report is out where the IPCC now admits that their predictions of melting glaciers in the Himalayas by 2035 was based entirely on unscientific “speculation”, rather than the scientific evidence they claimed to have. “Criminal dishonesty” is a term that comes to mind in place of “speculation”.

The second step in our science fair project is “Hypothesis”:

The hypothesis is a simple statement that defines what you think the outcome of your experiment will be.

Substantially, the IPCC actually proposes four separate hypotheses:
1) The Earth is getting warmer.
2) Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are significantly increasing.
3) An increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide causes the Earth’s temperature to rise.
4) Increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide are anthropogenically-generated (man-made).

Disproving any one of them negates the entire political climate change argument. None of these hypotheses have yet been proven. In fact, some IPCC scientists now admit that the Earth is cooling, refuting hypothesis #1.

Are atmospheric carbon dioxide levels increasing at a significant rate? According to NOAA, the current amount is estimated to be almost four hundredths of one percent (about 387 parts per million) of our atmosphere. At the current rate of increase, in another five years it will still not quite be four hundredths of one percent. In fact, one new study has shown that carbon dioxide levels have remained stable for the past 160 years due to the Earth’s capacity to absorb the gas. So, hypothesis #2 is in doubt.

There is also much dispute over whether increases in carbon dioxide levels precede or lag increases in global temperature. Additionally, there is significant evidence that the changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide do not match the output of human emissions and may be primarily due to natural phenomena. These data cast doubt on hypotheses #3 & 4.

In the third step, “Prediction”, the following advice is provided:

An incorrect prediction doesn't mean that you "failed." It just means that the experiment brought some new facts to light that maybe you hadn't thought about before. The judges at your science fair will not take points off simply because your results don't match up with your hypothesis.

However, the judges will take points off if you intentionally hide results that don’t agree with your hypothesis. All facts must be considered using the scientific method, and contrary data should be pursued aggressively.

Contrast that with the behavior of the IPCC climate scientists. As we now know from the released “Climategate” emails, scientists including University of East Anglia’s Phil Jones and Penn State University’s Michael “Hockey Stick” Mann actively bullied other climate scientists and suppressed dissenting evidence.

As is well-known by now, UK climate data has been faked and manipulated at East Anglia. Breathtaking revelations are now being brought to light that New Zealand and Russian data were also fabricated. The final straw is that now the US government itself through the National Climate Data Center (NCDC) and the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) has been caught red-handed manipulating the data in support of the global warming hypothesis.

The fourth step is “Experiment”:

This is the part of the scientific method that tests your hypothesis. An experiment is a tool that you design to find out if your ideas about your topic are right or wrong. It is absolutely necessary to design a science fair experiment that will accurately test your hypothesis. The experiment is the most important part of the scientific method.

The only means by which a scientist can prove whether a hypothesis is correct is if it is possible to prove it is wrong. This is known as the principle of “falsifiability”. Noted scientist Karl Popper developed this principle as a methodology for determining true science from “non-science”.

Global warming morphed into the amorphous term “climate change” for the very reason that it makes the hypothesis impossible to disprove. Since the Earth’s climate continually changes, all extraordinary climate phenomena, i.e., earthquakes, floods, extreme heat, extreme cold, tsunamis, hurricanes, and absence of hurricanes can be attributed to “climate change”.

Note actor Danny Glover’s logic in making the case that the Haiti earthquake was caused by “global warming”. Global warming a.k.a. climate change becomes “non-science” a.k.a. nonsense.

Finally, the “Conclusion”:

Remember, a science fair experiment isn't a failure if it proves your hypothesis wrong or if your prediction isn't accurate. No one will take points off for that. A science fair experiment is only a failure if its design is flawed. A flawed experiment is one that (1) doesn't keep its variables under control, and (2) doesn't sufficiently answer the question that you asked of it.

Judge this science project yourself. Were the variables well-controlled? Are the multiple hypotheses sufficiently supported? Were flaws in the experimental design intentionally suppressed? I give the IPCC scientists a resounding F-.

But why would formerly-respected scientists lie, cheat, and subvert science at the behest of the UN and various world governments? The power that controls carbon dioxide output will effectively control every living thing on Earth. Isn’t that reason enough? Q.E.D. hypothesis proved.

The denial and calls to push through Obamacare regardless of public opinion speaks volumes of the lefts commitment to a democracy (or rather their lack thereof).

Regardless of polls, votes, millions of tea party protesters the left blindly believes what it wants. After listening to and reading article after article on the Massachusetts election it is clear that there are only two conclusions one could possibly draw with respect to the left in this country.

1. The left is delusional and no amount of fact, public opinion or real world results will change their world view.
2. The left doesn't care what the people think (and are therefore anti-democratic by definition)

The Science is Settled - What More Evidence Do We Need?

Sorry Al, there's no such thing as "settled" science. But there is such a thing as falsified data and faked research. And apparently, the global "warmists" are guilty of the preponderance of it. Enhanced reputations and juicy government and private grants are the temptations that have led these disreputable scientists over the cliff.

Is the Earth warming? Based on my personal anecdotal data gathered while sitting in a warm Pennsylvania house while a frigid blizzard rages outside, I'd say no. (more anecdotal data here) But the Earth has been warming and cooling in cycles since its formation, all on its own with no man-made interference needed.

I imagine a pot full of ants on a stove. Some disreputable scientist ants claim, based on false information, that the burner under them will be turned on. The ants start to panic. "What do we do to stop the heat?", they cry. The politician ants feel pressure to do something, anything to satisfy their ant constituents. "Let's collapse our economic system and tax our citizens into oblivion!" It doesn't matter if it doesn't do anything to relieve the problem, but it's better for their careers than appearing impotent and doing nothing. As a result, the ants destroy their civilization. "You see!" say some of the ants who have made pot warming a religion, "If we hadn't stopped civilization, someone would have turned on the burner!"

Do you want real evidence that this is what is happening to us?

1. A brand new study released last month shows conclusively that atmospheric CO2 (the primary "greenhouse" gas blamed for man-made global warming) is NOT increasing, and HAS NOT increased over the past 150 years.

The strength of the new study, published online in Geophysical Research Letters, is that it rests solely on measurements and statistical data, including historical records extracted from Antarctic ice, and does not rely on computations with complex climate models. (which have been shown to be falsely created with manipulated data - Ed. note)

2. Much has been made by the warmists of "peer-reviewed" data. Here's a peer-reviewed study released just last week that proves that any warming of the globe has not been caused by CO2, but by CFCs (which have already been banned) and natural cosmic rays. The study goes on to state that the Earth has been cooling since 2002 and will continue cooling for another 50 years.

3. A global temperature study including data showing the impact of the "Medieval Warming Period" and the "Little Ice Age" is published in the peer-reviewed journal Energy & Environment.

Note that this data does not indicate the faked "hockey stick" formation, unless you consider it a "broken hockey stick".

4. Finally, the "coup de gras". An article has been published in The Washington Post, providing convincing evidence that the Arctic ice is melting. Some of the text in the article is as follows:

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway.

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm.

Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

Well, I'm convinced. However, this article was written in 1922, much earlier than the supposed increase in man-made CO2.

The bottom line is: Are we going to use common sense and impartially evaluate ALL of the data before we make some gigantic mistakes, or are we going to run around like a colony of panicked ants?

Do we need an American Putin?

Russian Premier Vladimir Putin is not a nice guy. He is belligerent, steely-eyed, cold, and plain-spoken. He says exactly what he means, and is not afraid of the repercussions from the international media or anyone else. I’m sure that the current American “leadership” sickens him with its pathetic political correctness.

Putin answered a question about his attacks against Chechnya Islamic terrorists in a 2008 G-8 press conference. His response was direct and cold as ice. Essentially, allowing for translation inaccuracies, he said if you come into Russia we’ll cut your n*ts off.

The video of this is awe inspiring. It is very “Dirty Harry” ala Clint Eastwood. There is no doubt where he stands, and he doesn’t care what anyone else in the room thinks. This is a leader. You may not like him, but you have to respect him.

Contrast this with our “fearless leader” Obama. Three full days after the event, he finally addresses the nation from a Marine base in Hawaii. He starts the speech, “Hey, guys.” Hey, guys? What is this, another friendly “shout out” to his vacation pals in Hawaii?
His rhetoric is vintage milquetoast. It inspires nothing. He ends with, “Thank you very much, everybody, and Happy New Year.” WHAT? We are being attacked! What don’t you understand about flaming explosive underwear?

Our great country is withering and dying in many ways, but the most obvious one is the lack of any credible leadership. Putin and Obama are similar in that they are both pathological narcissists. The contrast between the two is the difference between Andy Taylor and Barney Fife.

Strange Priorities in Obamaland

Let me get the facts straight. On Christmas day, an al-Qaida associated suicide bomber nearly incinerates a planeload of Americans over Detroit. Our fearless leader makes a flaccid statement three days later, decrying the act. What took three days? Was he busy golfing, shooting hoops, or just working out at the gym?

Later on that day, the son of a friend who was vacationing with the Obama family in Hawaii has a minor accident. The nine year-old son of Dr. Eric Whitaker bumps his head during a surfing lesson. Obama instantly interrupts his golf game to rush back to his luxury resort and check on his friend’s son’s condition. As it turns out, he is fine.

My question is: Why does a friend’s son get immediate attention while the safety of American citizens takes three days of vacation before getting around to addressing it? The Narcissist-in-Chief reveals himself again?

The Audacity of Unchecked Corruption

In the eyes of the corruptocracy of the left, which group is evil and which is morally pure: SEIU thugs or US Navy SEALs? It seems to be no contest.

Imagine if you will (as Rod Serling used to say) that innocent US citizen Kenneth Gladney, who gave away “Don’t Tread on Me” flags outside of a Missouri town hall meeting, instead gave out SEIU buttons at a pro-labor rally. Also imagine that instead of being surrounded and beaten by SEIU thugs, he was attacked by US Navy SEALs. Would the treatment by the legacy media be the same? Would the County Prosecutor be as reticent in pursuing prosecution of the SEALs as he currently is with SEIU?

Now imagine Kenneth’s brother Keith protesting the inaction of the prosecutor and the county government, and rewarded by being fired from his county job in apparent retaliation. And, for maximum punishment value, he is fired just before Christmas. I’m sure our vigilant media would express outrage beyond measure at the SEALs and the St. Louis County officials responsible.

Unfortunately, the sad state of our current Orwellian reality is that the SEIU thugs continue to skate prosecution after beating an innocent citizen to a pulp, and dissent is crushed.

Oh, and three US Navy SEAL heroes capture a terrorist who murdered Americans and mutilated their bodies. They give him a fat lip in the process. They must immediately be prosecuted and punished to the full extent of the law. The legacy media concurs.

This ongoing hypocrisy and corruption, unchecked by the legacy media, is reshaping our nation. God help us.

First, the evidence reveals that Penn State climate guru Michael Mann has fabricated the "hockey stick" graph that was the basis for the UNs IPCC report declaring alleged global warming to be man-made. Then the New Zealanders find that their data has been fabricated, as well. Now, the latest revelation is that Russian data claiming increased global temps has also been falsified.
